If the field is a permanent stream of phenomena, then what then appears to us as a stable reality in which most of us live? After all, we will not dispute the fact that we live in a relatively stable world that does not change every second. Why do external impressions of the world around us do not correspond to the fundamental assumptions about the nature of reality postulated here? Or is common sense deceiving us?

Fair remark. So far, we have spoken about the nature of the field, without taking into account the fact that secondary factors invade the spontaneous dynamics, which structure it.

What are these factors?

In this article, I will mention only one of them, which makes the most significant contribution to field stabilization. It's about the concept.

What is it? In short, the concept is, in its most general form, a larger or smaller set of phenomena that are in a stable relationship with each other, determined by forced valence. Simply put, if one of the phenomena appears in the field, then it entails the appearance of the entire phenomenological conglomerate. Thus, awareness is not determined by the spontaneous dynamics of the field, derived from the experience, but by some more or less stable pattern. Most often, the concept for sustainability takes cause-and-effect relationships as the basis of its phenomenological relationships.

I would like to emphasize for you, dear reader, this fundamental difference in the ways of regulating the dynamics of the field - experience and concept. They are alternatives and complementary to each other - either an experience or a concept. Experience is a natural field, it is it that allows the phenomenological dynamics to flow spontaneously. At the moment when the free flow of the process of experiencing stops, for example, due to the intolerance for a person to admit this or that feeling, this or that desire, etc., the remainder of vitality is immediately converted into a connection between those phenomena, the awareness of which is not so painful … Moreover, the more vitality is blocked in the experience, the stronger the bond is formed. Consequently, the stronger and more rigid the concept.

Subsequently, the encounter of a person in the field with the same phenomena unbearable for experience automatically brings to life this or that concept, which, as a surrogate for experience, structures the field to completely predictable and stable dynamics. Now a person notices only those phenomena that "fit" into the concept, and turns out to be completely "blind" to those of them that are outside of it. It is for this reason that what we perceive as the structure of the personality, or the type of this or that person, or any psychological regularity, is in essence the result of the chronization of the context of the field by some concept. At the same time, life becomes predictable and stable, however, the vitality of the experience leaves her to one degree or another. The dynamics of the field is reduced to its chronized contexts, which in the dialogue-phenomenological approach in psychotherapy are called the self-paradigm.

But, I emphasize, this is not a bad thing. The concept is an alternative to experience and appears when a person is unable to experience his life in its unpredictability. Any of us, if we have not yet reached enlightenment, needs concepts to structure life. Most of the actions that we perform on a daily basis are governed by concepts. The need to restore the experience appears only at the moment when a person begins to realize his life as dissatisfying him. In this case, he turns to psychotherapy, and he will need a fair amount of courage in order to begin to experience his life, plunged into the unpredictability of the phenomenological dynamics of the field. Structures, types, classifications, convictions, representations of a conceptual nature can begin to crumble before our eyes, making room for the free and unexpected dynamics of life.
