In tropical countries, mainly in India, light country buildings - bungalows - are common. In the Maldives, they are placed close to each other, like townhouses, as a result of which an original rounded ensemble is formed, connected by a deck of logs over the sea surface.

A distinctive feature of the bungalow is the lack of comfort. Most people feel this inconvenience not only on vacation in a simple dwelling on stilts, but also when they are in a state of anger.

In warm countries, we rest less often than we would like, and we experience anger more often than we ourselves wish. Today we will try to learn more about the life of wonderful people - ourselves, and about the emotion that lives inside everyone. So what is anger?

What does anger mean?

In the explanatory dictionary of the linguist Ozhegov, we find the following definition: "Anger is a feeling of strong indignation, indignation." Here, anger is compared to an outburst, to extreme anger when an intelligent person behaves stupidly. No wonder popular wisdom says that anger is a bad counselor.

The word "anger", according to the linguist Max Vasmer, has its roots in the depths of centuries. In Old Russian dialects, it means rot, poison, burning. By the way, "anger" in the ancient literary language of India - "rusha", here we see verbs well known to us: to ruin and destroy.

Why are relationships falling apart?

What is the reason for the breakdown of the relationship? As a rule, because of anger, which can lie in wait for us at every turn. In this strong emotion, a person loses control over himself, feels a fire inside himself, followed by rash words and actions. After that, a person comes to his senses, feels shame, guilt and the inability to fix anything.

Regardless of the type of character and behavior, we are open or closed, attentive or slightly detached, we talk about our feelings or experience everything inside - anger lives in everyone.

How strong is the emotion of anger?

The emotion of anger is very strong, energy-consuming, but, as a rule, its duration is not debt. Initially, blood pressure rises, the face rises in color, perspiration appears, the neck swells, cheeks turn red, breathing accelerates, the voice tone changes, speech is impulsive and impressive, eyebrows are pulled together, lips are compressed or bared, fists and all muscles are tense, eyes narrow, pupils shine … This is followed by an outburst of anger, which can become uncontrollable, like the gullible Moor Othello. If there is a person in front of you in a state of anger, it is more appropriate to break off visual contact with him and continue the interaction when he cools down and comes to his senses.

There are natures who are very angry and at the same time cold-blooded, driven by the desire to achieve a goal, even if this goal is revenge. Suffice it to recall The Count of Monte Cristo by A. Dumas. As Aristotle noted, there is a difference between revenge and punishment: punishment is for the sake of the punished, and revenge for the sake of the revenge, in order to appease his anger. We know the character of M. Puzo - Vito Corleone (godfather of the Sicilian mafia), who never raised his voice to opponents, but could make an offer in restrained anger, which could not be refused. We are familiar with the tragedy from "Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District" by N. Leskov, where the anger of a passionate merchant's wife turned into a series of crimes. People who think that revenge should be served cold are really dangerous, it is better to stay away from them.

What do scientists say?

Peter Salovey, founder of the School of Emotional Intelligence and President of Yale University, believes that the root cause of anger is anger associated with fear, depression and envy. To this can be added a heightened selfishness, when others must think and live as the individual wants.

The ability to stop the outbreak of anger decreases if the person has consumed alcohol or other substances that alter consciousness. Therefore, being in the places of stay of these subjects is dangerous to health.

According to the theory of the American psychologist Robert Plutchik, anger is a basic emotion that is inherent in humans by nature. Indeed, in the case of encroachments on private property, during a threat to life, protection is ineffective without anger. Here, anger is an aggressive reaction with a "+" sign. And it cannot be otherwise when, for example, a mother protects her child from danger. It happens that we get angry because of a heightened sense of justice, while protecting a person in trouble. In other cases, anger is an aggressive reaction with a "-" sign. If your anger is exclusively with a "+" sign, then you are a noble person who can say a firm "no" to manipulation, defending your interests and values.
