Once upon a time there was a little girl Mila. Mila grew up in a complete and quite prosperous family of engineers.
Only one "but" darkened her existence from early childhood, she was sick all the time … colds, childhood infections, problems with the gastrointestinal tract, ENT and so on, so on.
And since she lived in the Soviet Union, she was in hospitals alone, without her mother, from early childhood, this did not add to her health and joy. Hospitals have become her home for almost her entire life.
But, in fact, this is not about that. It's about how her illnesses are associated with gaining excess weight at different periods of her life. And about the reasons for this phenomenon.
As an adult, Mila heard from her mother, for the hundredth time, the following phrase: "You were such a sickly child that if you did not eat so well, you would not have survived at all." And here, for the first time, the whole global meaning of this phrase was revealed to Mile: "When you are sick, eat well, otherwise, you will die!"
Mila did not begin to implement her mother's directive right away, not in childhood, for various reasons. This first happened when Mila had a serious accident at the age of 11. The aunt, with whom she was in the hospital, could not understand in any way why the child had such an appetite, such insatiability in food, and Mila herself could not understand what was happening to her. Gradually, with recovery, the weight returned without any serious effort into place, when the body realized that nothing was in danger anymore.
The second episode occurred when Mila's boy was taken into the army, and she became very ill with pneumonia. Mila gained 10 kg in a short time.
This time, the weight did not want to quickly give up positions, and although it was within the permissible range of -72 kg with a height of 172, it began to cause inconvenience, to form the feeling of being out of order, thick, not graceful. This was an important milestone in her life.
Further, fluctuations in weight occurred periodically, in one direction or another, until at the age of 37 she decided to give birth to her second child. Weight began to grow rapidly, after giving birth it was very difficult to lose it. Mila felt herself clad in armor, clumsy, not in her body. But … in a sense of relative safety … Diet and refusal of starchy foods returned the weight to the frame, but wonderful skirts and dresses with a waist of 65 cm will never again be included in her wardrobe, but will hang sadly in the closet, as a reminder of a beautiful, active and feminine the youth that passed so quickly …
The very last stage, at which, in fact, the understanding of the root of the problem took place, happened after the death of Mila's dad, her loss of work. The body began to malfunction in all directions: problems began with the endocrine system, kidney stones, hot flashes, foreshadowing an early menopause … All this was aggravated by the rather difficult financial situation of the family. And Mila added to her 75, which already seemed too superfluous to her, almost 10 kg more….
Here it is worth saying one more important thing - Mila has always been an obedient and understanding child, and her mother's words and opinions were not an empty phrase for her. She unconsciously followed her mother's instructions - "to survive - you need to eat a lot."
The rest, the happy part of this story is yet to come.
The diagnostic stage is over, the therapeutic one is just beginning.
