Depth psychology, as a doctrine of the unconscious, existed in two independent layers of research:

1. The layer of Freud's personally repressed unconscious

2. Jung's collective unconscious

3. The third research direction joined the first two, in 1937. This is the introduced depth-psychological discipline, which L. Sondi called "Fate Analysis".

Fate analysis explores the third direction of the unconscious, namely the "generic unconscious", as a special form in the unconscious. How and from where are the repressed requirements of ancestors determined in a person through unconsciously controlled actions choice in love, friendship, profession, illness and death … We called this direction just that, since we consider not only the psyche, but also the body; not only the nature of instinct and heritage, but also the change of spirit; not only the manifestation of the real world, but also the world of the thinkable, the imaginary, which are at the center of our depth-psychological research. The word "fate"Within the meaning is the integration of body and soul, heritage and instinct; I and spirit, this world and the world beyond the grave, all human and interhuman phenomena. Thus, this direction of depth psychology led to the study of fate, which Szondi called "dialectical anankology" (see L. Szondi "Man and Fate, Science and the Picture of the World" 1954).

Over the years, Fate Analysis has been formed and defined in a special research direction with special methods of psychodiagnostics and psychotherapy. Fate analysis remained within the framework of depth psychology, since it represents an important area of the unconscious, namely the "generic unconscious", which is expressed in special segments of human life, namely in "The fate of choice." That is, in the fate-determining changes in the choice of each person, through human relations, and thus determines the fate of society.

Fate analysis, as the mainstream of depth psychology, was built on heritage and choice as a distinct discipline. Bricks for building your own destiny are given by our ancestors. Each ancestor, with his special requirements for life and his special form of life, acts on descendants as an "example and image." Each ancestor appears in our generic unconscious as a special possibility of fate. A person carries in the inner plane of fate, which is precisely called the generic unconscious, many different ancestors, and accordingly, many and very often opposite possibilities of fate. Each figure of ancestors in the generic unconscious has a tendency to become an "example" for the fate of descendants. Hence we have the imposition or coercion of ancestors in the choice of love, friendship, profession, illness and death. That part of fate that is determined by ancestors and imposed on us, we call forced fate.

The hand, which of these generic definite plans itself chooses the possibilities of fate, and refuses all others, or the figures of ancestors are integrated into a new image of "I", we call such a freely chosen or integrated part of fate free destiny … (see the book by L. Szondi "Man and Destiny", as well as "Science and the Picture of the World"). This is precisely the connection between the analysis of being and the analysis of fate.
