Psychologists often write about how important the role of feelings in the life of every child and adult is, how important it is to designate them, to live … Parents can help children draw a feeling, sculpt it, throw it into the trash can, but sometimes it is not clear what else is possible do with that feeling. Especially for this purpose, I wrote the fairy tale "The Owl and the Tiger Cub". It's about anger. Instead of anger, you can substitute any emotion (resentment, guilt, irritation) and teach the child to get rid of negative emotions in completely different ways.
Fairy tale "Owl and Tiger Cub"
The owl was perched on a branch of a spreading tree and was cleaning its beautiful gray-brown feathers. It was morning and the weather was great. The sun was shining and the Owl was in a very good mood. Then she noticed that the Tiger Cub was walking past the tree on which she was sitting. Very gloomy, very angry. “I wonder what could have made him so angry on such a beautiful day?” Thought the Owl and asked the red-haired Tiger Cub about it. At first, the tiger cub did not pay any attention to her question, and then raised his head and looked at the Owl.
- Eh, you don’t understand …
- And you try to tell.
- It makes me angry that every day there is such a heat. It makes me angry that no one wants to play and be friends with me. It angers that mom and dad are always busy looking for food and drink for me and my brothers … I am angry with the place where we live. It is always boring here and there is nothing interesting … Anyway, everything makes me angry! Everyone, don't bother me!
“Don't you know what you can do with your anger?
The tiger cub thought.
- Is there anything you can do with her? - He asked uncertainly, continuing to get angry, and frowned at Owl.
- Sure! For example, anger can be buried. Dig a hole and bury it, and put a large stone on top so that it certainly does not get out.
- Truth? Where can I get this stone? I won't lift that big.
- A small pebble will be enough.
- Well, then it will be a very small pebble, - Tiger cub muttered.
- Okay, a small one will do too. You can break it into pieces. How glass is broken.
- Wow!
- And it can also be blown away, like dust is blown away. Or imagine a dandelion, and blow off your anger, as you blow off gray-white parachutes from a dandelion, and the Owl blew imaginary dust particles from its right wing.
- It's that simple - to blow it off?
- Yes. And you can also put it on a wooden raft or in a paper boat and send it to the open sea, so that it will be washed ashore by a wave.
The owl continued:
- And you can crumple it so tightly that it will not be noticeable at all. So small that you can't see it. Anger can still be sung. And you can repaint it in a different color, for example, it was red, but it turned yellow like the sun. Or laugh at her. Or build a wall behind which she would be …
- Oh, then it must be a very high wall so that anger could not climb over it, - answered the Tiger Cub.
- Do you know that you can forget your anger? Or share it with someone who wants to get angry right now. You can roll it into a ball, and then kick it soooo with your paw!
- Hmm, interesting, - Tiger cub liked it.
- Did you try to eat your anger?
- Eat? - Tiger cub asked warily.
- Yes. You just need to eat it quickly. Otherwise, she may have a bitter taste. You can hide your anger far, far away, that you yourself would never find it. Or chase away. Or melt. It's also interesting to dance with her.
- Dance? - The tiger cub did not hide his surprise.
- Yes, the fact is that anger does not stand dancing. It gets smaller, calms down and decreases. And there is another way: you can think about anger for so long that nothing will remain of it.
- How many ways … and what should I do now? - asked the confused Tiger Cub.
“If I were you, I would have thrown it out. Further away.
- Well, okay, so be it. - agreed Tiger Cub and threw out his anger.
Then they talked about the good weather and how to feel joyful and contented. And the main thing is that you don't need to do anything with joy, owl thought so.
- Quite quite? - asked the Tiger Cub.
“Yes,” she assured him.
