Mom, don't turn off the light

There was a boy named Misha. He was very kind and cheerful. He had a beautiful and cozy nursery with a lot of toys. Misha wanted his room to look like a mysterious space, so his mother pasted blue wallpaper with stars. At night, when the moonlight fell on the walls, the stars shimmered yellow beautifully and Misha imagined that he could fly high - high in the sky. And once he even sat on the biggest star and began to swing on it! It was a pleasure! Misha rocked for a long time and was already starting to fall asleep, when suddenly he heard a strange sound. It was like a rustle in the grass when you drag a large box on the ground or a heavy bag. But where is the box or bag in the sky? Misha held his breath and began to examine all the walls, but saw nothing. Some kind of anxiety settled in the boy's soul. He became very scared and did not want to sleep at all. The annoying sound went on and on. And suddenly Misha saw a strange shadow on the wall. She was like a large snake, with a tail like a broom. This strange snake arched as rhythmically as if it were dancing and hissing all the time. And when this "fizzy", as Misha called her to himself, saw that the boy had noticed her, she hissed:

- Shhhh, are you afraid? Good …

At that moment Misha became so scared that his palms and even his hair began to sweat. But he still crawled under the covers with his head. It was very hot and stuffy under the blanket, no yellow stars and blue sky were visible, but, on the other hand, this terrible and it was not clear where the fizzy came from. Then Misha decided to call his mother:

- Mother! Mommy, come to me!

A minute later, my mother came into the room and turned on the light.

-What happened, son? Why did you hide under the covers? You are sweating all over …

- Mom, there is someone here. She crawls along the wall and hisses …

Mom was surprised, went up to the starry walls, examined them carefully, but found nothing.

-Mishenka, sonny, stop fantasizing! There is no one here and there cannot be. It just seemed to you.

- I'm scared, mom….

Misha began to cry and ask his mother not to turn off the light. But my mother frowned and said very seriously:

- Misha, you are a grown boy, you are already six years old. You must be brave! Sleep now, otherwise I'll tell dad everything - And mom left, turning off the light. It became dark again, and even the stars were not visible, but a rustling sound remained:

- Coward !!!

Misha hid under the covers again, closed his eyes tightly, but he could not sleep. All sorts of monsters were imagined that crawled out from under the bed, jumped out the window and everyone wanted to harm him.

Unexpected friend

Now Misha did not sleep every night, but waited for this terrible creature called "Fizzy" to appear again. He waited and was afraid that she would not only crawl on the wall, but also make her way into his bed. Such thoughts made Misha so scared that he again hid under the covers. That night, the boy decided not to get out at all, but then he heard a quiet and weak voice:

- My name is Lippi. I have lived in this room for a long time and guard the boy's sleep. I will help Misha get rid of you.

-Shshshsh, are you kidding …? I'll suffocate you.

-I'm not afraid of you! Get out of here before I tell the kid how to get rid of you!

It became very interesting for Misha to look at his unexpected friend and protector. Very slowly and carefully, he pulled back the corner of the blanket and looked out with one eye. He saw a caterpillar, it was small and very cute, with a mustache and green blinking eyes. She was so fragile in comparison with the terrible fizzy that Misha became seriously worried about her. Without noticing it himself, he completely crawled out from under the covers and began to observe this strange, but at the same time bewitching action. He lay quietly, so as not to miss a single word from Lippi:

“You know that if Misha draws you, then your strength will go away,” Lippi said.

“Hush, shut up, or I'll bite!” The snake rustled and disappeared somewhere.

“She probably got scared herself,” decided Misha and calmly fell asleep.

In the morning, as soon as the baby woke up, he ran to his desk, took out a blank sheet of paper, pencils and drew a snake - a pop. He tried so hard that he did not notice how his mother approached:

- Are you already awake, son? Wow, how great are you! What a cute snake!

-Darling?! - Misha was surprised and again looked at his monster. And indeed, at that moment he himself saw that the snake was not at all scary, but even funny. “She has already lost her strength because I painted her. Lippi is right! - the boy was delighted and began to draw her again, but already drawing on her all sorts of arms, legs and horns. I drew grass, flowers and even a rainbow around. Drawing turned out to be so fun and exciting that Misha and his mother were even late for the kindergarten.

Brave boy

All day Misha thought about Lippi. How is she there? Had the Fizzy bitten her? Or maybe Lippi has already kicked out the monster? After all, because of the drawing, it lost some of its strength. He wanted to be a strong and brave boy to protect his new friend. Therefore, as soon as evening came, Misha himself went to his room, turned off the light and went to bed. Misha waited, but there was silence all around. He reflected that, most likely, there is a whole world, a world of shadows, about which adults do not know anything, that pops, Lippi and many other creatures live there. They are bored in their dark world and they come to children to scare them, and from this to gain strength. The more the child feared, the stronger the monsters became. And if the child is brave, then they have no reason to live in the children's room and they go to look for another coward. At that moment, Misha heard a sound, rather a rustle. When Misha got up on the bed, he saw that there was a struggle of shadows on the wall. Small and defenseless Lippi fought with a terrible, but not very big Fizzy. The terrible snake was now advancing on Lippi, then leaving back, but the little caterpillar did not give up and also attacked the Fizzy.

-I will destroy you, insidious and evil snake! You will not get Misha's fear. Because Misha is a brave and brave boy. He is no longer afraid of you, he painted you and even laughed at you. And if he musters up the courage and turns on the light, then you will end!

-Shhh, better shut up! I am bigger than you and I will overcome you and your Misha - the snake rustled, all the time, arching and approaching Lippi.

“What if she gets so close to Lippi that the little caterpillar will not have time to escape. And then she will die and I will not have a friend and defender "- thought Misha -" I have to help her! But how to get out from under the blanket, it's so scary! No, I cannot leave Lippi in trouble"

Misha jumped abruptly and ran screaming to the door of his room.

-Aaaaaaaa!

He opened the door and then turned on the light. And then everything stopped. His mother came running to his cry:

-Marie, what happened? Why did you scream?

-Mama, she killed Lippi! She is no longer there, she wanted to help me … and now she is gone - the boy sobbed and looked at the empty wall.

“I don’t understand who you’re talking about!” Misha told his mother about his night guests, that he decided to help the little defender, but when he turned on the light, everything disappeared, both the terrible Pop and the little caterpillar Lippi. Mom smiled and said:

- Look! I'll turn off the light now, but I'll be there, don't be afraid! - Mom turned off the light, and that hour a terrible shadow appeared on the wall.

-There she is! Mom, run!

Mom went to the window and pushed back the curtain, and at that moment the huge snake was gone. But Lippi appeared. Then mom went to the switch and turned on the light again

-Look, kid! They are just shadows. Your scary snake Fizzy is the shadow of the curtain. The window is open, the wind is blowing and shaking the curtain, but it seems to you that it moves by itself. Look, she's gone! You are a brave boy, you got rid of her because you were able to get up, open the door and turn on the light. You are a very good friend, you protected your savior.

-But where is she? - the baby continued to sob

- Now let's look - Mom turned off the light again, and they, together with Misha, began to look at the walls. Suddenly Misha saw two small green lights near the writing table.

-Mom, I found her, here she is! - Misha was delighted - she is alive and still lives in my room!

“You want me to turn on the light and she’s gone too?”

-No, let him live. Lippi is my friend and now I'm not afraid of anything!

Mom stroked the baby on the head, kissed him and put him back to bed. She did not begin to tell her son that Lippi is nothing but a shadow, but from the wire of his table lamp. But that was not at all scary!
