It's time to tell what kind of clients there are, otherwise the previous story will not make sense if you ignore the most important participant in the psychotherapeutic process.

First type. Non-problem solving customers. The most important thing for them is to determine the cause of their suffering and worries. Most often these are people who have no one to share with. They feel an urgent need to talk - to tell about their past, talk about current events. They come to consultations as to a meeting with a friend or girlfriend, they just came to talk. Despite this, the conversation itself, or rather their monologue addressed to a psychologist, has a psychotherapeutic effect on them. Clients of this type can go to a specialist for years, sometimes disappear for a while. Having reappeared, she considers it necessary to recall her story from the very beginning.

Second type. Clients are clearly result-oriented. Their task: to establish the cause, effect, connection between them and find a way to solve and get a result. This is where the work ends. The satisfied customer leaves. The aspiring professional may attribute success to the quickness of solving the problem to himself. No, it's just a client like that.

Third type. These clients are characterized by consistency, They find their psychologist, and with some frequency come to him to correct their actions, check their actions in a psychotherapeutic situation, in order to then use this skill in real life situations.

Fourth type. This type of client causes the most contradictory feelings in the specialist. The main task of these clients is to find as many psychologists as possible, to try on themselves all available methods, techniques and exercises of all directions of psychotherapy known to them, as well as to find new, still little known, and be sure to try them on yourself. They are not going to decide anything. Despite the actively demonstrated interest in techniques and methods, they work very superficially, they may not finish the work, disappear without completing the therapeutic process. They have been solving their problem for many years. Their favorite phrase, with which they can bribe a specialist, is “my problem is very difficult, you are the only one who can help me”.

Fifth type. The most difficult. They are similar to the fourth. But there are important differences. Their favorite phrase is the same as type 4 clients. The client begins to work actively, the psychologist sees clear improvements, the client confirms them, thanks the specialist, and they happily say goodbye. Everyone is happy. However, after two or three or four consultations, the client demonstrates an acute exacerbation and deterioration, everything is bad, the methods are bad, and in a specialist he is disappointed. His case is very difficult, and he was again deceived and again did not help. He is crushed and he leaves.

I may not be believed, but I enjoy working with all types of clients.
