From the author: As a leadership coach, several years ago I came to the conviction that it is possible in any manager to reveal his hidden potential as a leader, and after many years of successful work, I decided to draw up a Memo "How to Become a Leader". Today is the time to take stock.

How to Become a Leader! Part 23. Results

It's time to take stock. How does coaching work with psychotherapy?

(In addition to my research, I relied on the research of P. Janet, S. Freud, C. Jung, R. Assagioli.)

First, briefly about the structure of our inner world or about the layers (levels) of our psyche-soul. Different eminent scientists give different descriptions. I'll try to give a simple and clear picture:

First level - this is ours Subconscious (Unconscious) - basic cravings associated with hunger and sex; greed, aggression, lust, anger, numerous psychological complexes (inferiority, etc.). From here our nightmares, suppressed dreams and fantasies penetrate into dreams. This is where our obsessive and, at times, manic ideas, phobias and unconscious fears and anxieties arise.

Another level - this is ours Conscious Self (Ego) … Here is everything that we are directly aware of and feel at the moment: thoughts, sensations, ideas, desires, feelings, all kinds of impulses. At the same time, inside the Conscious I there is its own part of the Unconscious: experience, memory, memories, hidden competences, unrevealed abilities and talents, suppressed dreams and desires.

Third level - our Superconscious … This is where our intuitive insights, enlightenments, inspirations, inspiration, foresight arise; global thinking, integral and synthetic abilities and talents; feelings of happiness, genius, sacrifice or heroism.

Separately, we can highlight Collective Unconscious, discovered by K. Jung, but let's leave it outside the boundaries of our Memo.

Every day, I would add - every night, we become witnesses of hundreds and thousands of phenomena taking place in our inner world. Often, sometimes, even too much, we turn into victims of our inner illusions and fantasies. We obey our complexes. We go blind and fascinated by the deceptive appearance of people and things. Not understanding the inner hidden laws of external events, we rush headlong into one or the other extreme. Succumbing to the strong influence of our Subconscious (Unconscious), we constantly experience feelings of despondency, depression, dissatisfaction, insecurity, guilt and resentment, anger and self-depreciation. Internally collapsing into parts (subpersonality), we cease to understand ourselves and others. We are already weakly guiding ourselves and destroying relationships with others. Mental anomalies and disorders begin, sometimes turning into psychosomatic diseases. As a result, we fall into the abyss of despair and disbelief. Around this period, we come to a specialist with a request to change our life for the better.

So, we have a client who wants to become a leader or develop the qualities of a leader

You have to start all over again, from yourself, from within, from your true self, from identifying yourself as a unique person. If each client carries his own unique uniqueness, then his coach and a strategy for working with him need to develop a special, unique one, moving away from templates and standard methods, so that the client can develop during work, be aware of himself and change, revealing his unique, hitherto pores, hidden talents.

How does it work?

  • First, it is necessary to work out the meanings that the client is looking for in his life, his values, ethical, aesthetic, spiritual.
  • Work on the client's ideas about life, about their place in life. The motivation of his actions and decisions depends on his ideas.
  • Help the client understand the connection and contradiction between determinism (causation) in his life and his freedom.
  • Clarify the problems of his choice in his life story and decision making.
  • If there is freedom of choice in making decisions, then you need to talk about responsibility.
  • If freedom is limited, then the choice in making a decision is predetermined by dependence on people and circumstances.
  • It is necessary to work through the client's anxieties and fears, the existence of his life.
  • Work through accepting responsibility for your story through understanding and understanding the motives and mechanisms of your past actions.
  • A separate item is the will of the client. Ponder, understand, realize, feel the final and complete confidence in the necessity and attainability of a new and successful life in all its spheres.
  • And only then can one begin to design his future life.

The components of the project of the client's future life are his self-realization, joy in the process of achieving the set goals, inspiration, pleasure, moments of happiness and fullness of living life.

In the cooperation of the client with the coach-therapist, the client's personality is transformed, transformed, a new personality is recreated with the disclosure of suppressed and hidden talents and abilities, the discovery of an internal source of constantly generated energy.

The coach-therapist must and must meet the needs and expectations of the client:

  • If the client is an entrepreneur, then it will be great if your coach has a good education and experience of successful entrepreneurship.
  • If the client wants to resolve their psychological problems, then it will be great if your therapist has the education and experience of successfully transforming his life.
  • If you meet a coach with business and psychological education, and besides, with successful business experience, then we can confidently say that you are lucky.

A qualified coach uses an integrated strategy using a system of methods and techniques that consistently cover all stages of working with a client to successfully change his life in the inner and outer world:

First comes the stage of psychoanalytic work, thanks to which the client gradually activates hidden abilities and talents. Those sides and facets of the personality that were weakly manifested, but which are revealed as genuine, develop. There is further integration and harmonization of all internal aspects and qualities of the client into a single and holistic subjectivity.

Next comes the process of transformation of emotional, aggressive, sexual biological energy into creative activity, which begins to change the client's inner and outer reality. It also helps to fully restore the psychological health of the client.

Coaching in conjunction with psychoanalytic work helps clients to truly understand their true authenticity. Distinguish and integrate all the components of your personality. To actualize your I with the help of techniques, through the control and awareness of your Subconscious and the maximum use of the richest resources of your Superconscious. And then we begin to design our desired Future (our Dream) and achieve it.

As a child, when I was 6-9 years old, I enthusiastically read stories about Alexander the Great (remember: "Get up! Great things await you!"). One part of me (Ego) dreamed of following the example of the great Alexander. But the other part (my real I), realizing peace and harmony in the soul truly, within itself, not for show, wanted to become like his mentor, interlocutor, advisor, assistant (coach) - just the philosopher Aristotle.

Four decades later, my dream is coming true … I help people to realize their meanings, purpose, their own unique greatness.

17 years have passed since I started working as a coach.

Impossible for others will soon become possible for you

Good luck to you!
