Some of my clients can easily refute the expression “you can't run away from yourself,” especially when it comes to weekends or vacations.
Changing the work week to weekends or a long-awaited vacation is the most common and expected fetish of working people. Yes, many people run from their unloved work to their favorite vacation and this, in fact, is just a change from one disguise to another. A disguise that covers our internal problems, our questions to ourselves about who we are.
Gradually, the level of neurotization of society is becoming higher and higher, and spending active holidays has already passed from the category of fashionable to the category of reality.
You can dwell on travel in more detail.
How can you link weekends, travel and personal existential crisis?
In my opinion, the desire of many people to travel always and a lot can be explained by the fact that the inner question that torments them so much, the feeling of inner emptiness, there is no desire to answer, and there is an effective way to avoid collision with the frightening inner reality in the form of escape from oneself, which is expressed figuratively in travel.
Based on the generally accepted reaction to a stimulus (in this case, to the fear of what is inside us), we can either run, or attack, or freeze in place and pretend to be dead. This is how we deal with the issue of inner emptiness that is exposed during rest, when the protective veil of work falls from our gaping wound.
To attack means to really face the need to solve the issue of inner emptiness. Something to do with it. Here, of course, there is a high probability of going into overcompensation and entering a period of endless self-examination and analysis of everything that is around and everyone around. Analysis can be followed by meta-analysis, that is, analysis of analysis, and then we can say with a high degree of probability that this analyzing analyst does not live at all, does not notice life in himself and in others. Yes, there can be effective attempts to solve the problem, and this really deserves a lot of respect.
Another way out of the situation is to freeze in place. An ancient response from our "reptilian" brain that can be very effective in the animal kingdom. In my understanding, one of the varieties of this reaction transferred to our society can be the state of “everyday life”. This concept describes a life that has frozen in place, a life in which everything develops according to a very tough scenario, which is indestructible. And even if the surrounding reality no longer corresponds to the life principles that this individual has, then he will still follow the old knurled program, because everything in him has stopped, time inside him has stopped, because it is necessary!
Finally, the "run" reaction.
Modern society presents us with a wide range of escape from itself. The entire catalog of the provided ways of running is great, that and sport with its pursuit of fame and records, here and the modern fashion for painting, here and complete immersion in the world of fashion and beauty, here are hobbies for dancing and incessant renovation in the apartment. Here we will focus on travel and its offshoots.
When asked “why do you need to travel,” one of my clients with noticeable enthusiasm gave a very interesting story about how she broadens her horizons in this way, and most importantly, that this way she gets new impressions.
To the next question “why do you need new impressions and why you need to go somewhere for them,” she could not answer anything.
What are we dealing with here? In my opinion, in this particular case, which I will not disclose in more detail, there was a kind of attempt to actually escape from oneself from the problems that the client faces during the state of "idleness", at a time when emptiness is felt strongly, when it can be approached, at this moment detente occurs in the form of flight, i.e. travels.
A new journey, this new nervous excitement overlapping the existential request from within. Nervous tension gives rise to an even greater thirst for sensations and leads to an increase in the dose of new nervous excitement. Therefore, with each new time, the journey should be further, more difficult, more extreme, more expensive, more prestigious, more interesting, more exclusive, and so on. etc.
And all this can last forever, because wherever we go, we always take ourselves with us, therefore, our problems and questions do not disappear anywhere.
We so like to believe in the illusion that we can go to a magical land where we will feel good and comfortable that many are really immersed in this fairy tale and cannot afford to get out of it. Because at the exit, their emptiness will await them.

The Habit Of Running Away
As long as Mila remembered herself, she always fled. Even as a child, not having prepared for the test on the hated mathematics - she complained of abdominal pain and stayed at home. Starting to meet with young people, she first endured what she did not like about them - as much as she could - and then silently disappeared without explaining anything.
A Question To Myself: "What Do I Myself, In Fact, Think About This?"
One of the common reasons for referring to a therapist is a desire to sort out the thoughts and the seeming lack of logic in the behavior of another. “Why did the guy from the dating app suddenly disappear and not answer messages ?!”, “Why does a colleague just flirt at the cooler and send emoticons, but doesn't call for lunch?
The Question To Myself: "What Is There, One Step Away From What I Already Know How?"
One well-known psychologist in her speech once dropped: "If you want to ruin everything - globalize." I agree 100% We are often overwhelmed not by the fear of changes, but by their seeming impossibility. We are taken aback - just like a five-year plan who would be sent to buy, well, let's say, a washing machine for a family apartment.
I'm Running, Vitenka, I'm Running Little
The hardest burden that a child can bear is the unlived life of his parents. K.G. Remember that series from Yeralash with the restless grandmother who rushes with all her might to help her granddaughter Vitenka. This is certainly funny, but at the same time sad.
