What could be the causes of increased anxiety (for example, anxious every day)? There are six main and most common circumstances that underlie the problem.
1. The child's anxiety was not comforted by the mother
The roots of the highest anxiety are in early childhood (infancy). When a person is born, he is very scared. In psychology, it is customary to believe that birth trauma is the very first and strongest for everyone. Accordingly, pressing against the breast of the mother, the anxiety becomes less. An example of anxiety associated with fear of birth is that babies may just cry in a crib or stroller, demanding attention from their mother.
According to studies, in a small child, on average, up to 2 months, the feelings of I and Ego are not formed, respectively, the baby does not understand whether he exists at all. Awareness of his own existence appears only at the moment when he sees his mother's eyes, feels her hands and his own scent. Thus, the understanding of the Ego and myself is formed, I am a separate person from all.
If the mother did not sufficiently satisfy this anxiety, did not calm and comfort the child, the emotional and physical contact was insignificant (for example, the baby cried and called for his mother for 5-10 minutes, but she did not react), this can be imprinted in his mind as a trauma. Such situations can occur quite often and overlap one another. Another example would be the increased anxiety of the mother, which she was unable to cope with and, accordingly, to comfort her child.
2. A large number of traumas have accumulated in the psyche.
In psychology, as in physics, nothing comes out of nowhere and disappears into nowhere. All experienced situations, accumulated emotions and sensations (including childhood experiences and traumas) gradually accumulate in the body. In this case, anxiety is an attempt by the psyche to convey to the consciousness that a certain psychic energy is retained in the body, there is a lot of it and an outlet is needed. This is a kind of cry of the body for help - "Pay attention to me, listen to me, because something is wrong!"
3. A person does not live here and not now, he lives more thoughts about the future, and not the present.
At the moment, everything is fine with him, no anxiety bothers him, he just experiences his feelings and emotions, feels support in them. However, any (even the most insignificant) thoughts about the future are alarming (What happens in an hour? And if I miss the deadline? What if it rains when I get back from work?).
A particular difficulty in this case lies in the fact that the person does not have a "calming system", the roots of the problem - the mother did not teach him to calm himself. However, there are many different exercises that can help.
4. Giving special importance to some events, people, things, emotions and so on. What does this mean? For example, the experience and thought that it will rain for a person is very important (that is, something bad will happen, incommensurate with his position, control over the situation will be completely lost).
5. Lack of trust in the environment, the world, myself and other people (I do not trust anyone (even myself), I will not be able to get out of this situation and cope with all the consequences). This reason is a consequence of the crises experienced in life. All people have crises, but the most important and significant are crises under the age of 7. If a person has survived them and coped with everything, he will be able to survive all subsequent turning points in life. In this case, he will not be horrified by the thought that something might happen.
6. Small container for experiences. Often, under anxiety, various undifferentiated experiences can be hidden (for example, anger, resentment, disappointment or frustration - any feelings, if a person does not want to understand them, can be experienced as anxiety). In this case, increased anxiety is a consequence of the fact that a person has a very small container for experiences, but at the same time a huge amount of emotions. Which exit? It is necessary to name and comprehend each emotion, then the container will grow up.
