Everyone has a comfort zone, and everyone has their own. For some, it extends "as much as the entire sofa", for others, for the whole world

A warm home, a comfortable sofa, hearty and delicious food - all this is a comfortable environment.

This is the physical convenience of a person, and this is the outer framework.

Comfort zone - it is more a psychological concept, it is a state of human consciousness. “Is it good for me? Am I protected? Am I safe?"

This is a kind of state, let's say, of the soul, in which we are accustomed to stay and act according to the prevailing pattern, to move along a knurled track. This is our inner framework.

What is the danger of a comfort zone? That it cannot have the same boundaries forever. If you don't expand them, they will begin to shrink.

Being constantly in the comfort zone, we do not gain new experience, that is, we do not develop. An example of a very narrow comfort zone is the comfort zone of a drug addict who is high: as long as the drug is on it is good; as it begins to let go, the whole world becomes a continuous stress. Narrowing your comfort zone is a regression path.

You may ask: what about those sages who gave up many benefits and began to be content with little - are they also degrading? " No, they just expanded their comfort zone so much that they feel good everywhere, they have everywhere like a home, their home is where they are. And this is the other pole of "narrowing - expanding the comfort zone."

I am not urging you to throw your golden cage, no. If you feel good there, and you are happy with life, then so be it. Another question, if you want changes, then yes, you cannot get a new result by acting according to the old templates.

One girl, earning $ 500 a month, dreamed of a salary of $ 1,000, and so that the job would be somehow more interesting, and not just "shift papers." And now she is offered a more interesting job with a salary of $ 2,000, but in a different city. And what is she? She refused, because there are many "what if …" because it is outside of her comfort zone.

And now who knows, perhaps, if she had taken this step, she would have met Him “the very same” there, and would have separated from her parents at the age of 26, and would have advanced in her career, they would have offered to head the branch as a leader. But … she is so accustomed to living with her parents, in her hometown, and she has the right to do so.

No one will force her to do good. Weighed all the pros and cons and made a decision. Everything. Work and have fun. Do not say that your knowledge is passive and you cannot apply it in life.

In this case, it is important to make a decision consciously, so as not to torment yourself with suffering like "what if it would be good there." You will never know if you don't try. Therefore, deciding to stay, she must admit that this is what she needs. For her $ 500, she bears minimum responsibility and eats her mother's hot cakes. This is her choice, period.

Do not be afraid to try new things, if you don't like it, you can go back. You should alternate going out into the outside world and being in the comfort zone, this will allow you to function successfully and at the same time remain full of strength. Moderation in everything gives balance.

Thinking that my comfort zone is correct, and that this is the only way to live, is also not useful. Why? Life does not stand still, in every country some changes are constantly taking place, and if we do not keep pace with the times, we will simply get lost.

Those who are more flexible, those who do not cling to the old and can adapt to changes, win. This is the law of survival and natural selection. I once wrote in one of the articles about mice in three cages, and so those who were sometimes taken out of the comfort zone turned out to be much more viable than "greenhouse flowers" - mice that were created in luxury conditions.

I want to finish the article with the words of Rear Admiral of the US Navy Grace Hopper, he said:

"The ship is safer in port, but it wasn't built for that."

Our body needs comfort, but our personality does not benefit from this comfort. And if you decide to leave your comfort zone, then you must do it consciously and know why. That is, there must be a goal for which you are willing to endure temporary discomfort.

Why temporary? Yes, because over time it will become habitual and included in your comfort zone.

"Success is achieved by those who are willing to sacrifice momentary pleasures for much greater reward in the future" (Brian Tracy)
