The concepts of intimacy and sex have become almost identical in our time. Sometimes one concept replaces another, and this gives rise to a misunderstanding of what is what. In society, everything that somehow relates to the body and physiological manifestations of the body began to be considered intimate, and sex is included in this list, almost in the first place. At the same time, for some reason, they do not remember at all about intimacy, in terms of the fact that one of the translations of this word is the adjective intimate or closed. In my opinion, there is a rather significant difference between intimacy and sex.
If there is at least some clarity with sex and for the most part people understand that this is a physiological act, then with intimacy everything is much more complicated. In my opinion, intimacy is not only about sex, it is about the relationship itself. By and large, intimacy is a secret for two, this is the trust that arises between a man and a woman in a relationship. The feeling of intimacy in a relationship does not arise immediately; it develops over time. Together with those experiences that bind a man and a woman, I bind, not separate. This includes everything that people keep in pairs and do not let strangers go there. This is what allows them to be together without any social masks, to be real, and not the way others are used to seeing them. And this also affects the quality of sex.
The life of the partners and the level of sex between them largely depends on how much intimate relationships are present in the couple, and what quality they are. Indeed, by and large, sex is not only sexual intercourse, but also the unity of souls, when next to another (no matter a man or a woman) a person feels safe. Often people either forget about it or don't want to think about it at all. But it is precisely such closed states that generate gratitude to the partner, loyalty to him. And loyalty is not from fear (and suddenly), but from unwillingness to betray.
When an intimate relationship is violated by one of the partners to the other it is always very painful, this is true for both men and women. People experience the same feelings when they do not get what they expected in such a relationship. It is almost impossible to restore intimate relationships, they can only be rebuilt, with the mutual desire of both men and women (this is about the ability to forgive and understand). A striking example of the destruction of intimate relationships can be considered the betrayal of one of the partners. It's like having a reputation, it's hard to earn, but very easy to lose.
If in a couple there are problems related to sex and not of a medical nature, then most likely the point is that not everything is in order in an intimate relationship. Each couple has their own world for two, all of them are different and to let strangers into it, or, even worse, to bring its details for discussion with friends and relatives is deliberately destroying the relationship.
Intimacy, of course, will include sex, but as a detail. Understanding that this broader concept will allow you to consider situations in a couple from a slightly different point of view, which can help to avoid many problems in the relationship between a man and a woman.
