Mostly, I am confronted with misinterpretations of depression.
I often hear from clients “I don't have depression, I don’t lie in bed all day”. Anything - autumn blues, melancholy, sadness, just not depression.
☝ Very many people do not even suspect that they are suffering from depression. Yes, they are sick. Because depression is a disease like the flu or chickenpox.
☝ Only the psyche is sick, not the body. And she needs help. Depression does not go away on its own, methods such as “pull yourself together, rag”, “completely limp, you better go to work”, “you have to drink and everything will go away” do not help, but make it worse. To complicate matters, in our culture, depression is perceived as a “shameful” disease.
😞 We are ashamed to admit, even to ourselves, that we have depression. We will do our best to cope on our own and not ask for help. Because “only weaklings ask for help”, and further down the list. Depression is dangerous❗
Joy and pleasure disappear, meaning is lost, the quality of life and working capacity are greatly reduced, thoughts “when will all this end..” imperceptibly creep into my head. Distinguish between mild, moderate and severe depression. If you have a mild form of depression - do not delay, take care of yourself❗
If you do nothing, the problem will worsen. How to understand if this is just a bad mood or depression?
Here are the typical symptoms of depression:
🔸 feel depressed, regardless of the circumstances;
🔸 do not enjoy previously pleasant activities;
🔸 you get tired quickly, fatigue does not go away even after a night's sleep;
🔹 a pessimistic outlook on life prevails;
🔹 worried about the feeling of guilt, anxiety, fear;
🔹 suffer from low self-esteem;
🔹 cannot concentrate;
🔹 explicit or implicit thoughts of death / suicide;
🔹 poor appetite, significant weight loss / gain;
🔹 sleep poorly, insomnia / early awakening / falling asleep.
Situational depression is a normal response to stress. If, within 2 weeks, you find at least 5 symptoms in yourself, there is a possibility that this is depression and you should contact a specialist.
☝Remember that only a doctor can make a diagnosis. The most effective treatment for depression is a combination of medication and psychotherapy. Prescribing antidepressants depends on the severity of the depression. A doctor (therapist / neurologist / psychiatrist) diagnoses and prescribes medications, and a psychologist helps bring joy back to life.

Ways To Overcome Irritability, Anger, Bad Mood After A Traumatic Event
Irritability, anger, and a bad mood very often haunt people who have experienced a traumatic event.
