Continuing the topic of age crises, today we will talk about:
Puberty (transitional crisis)
This age is characterized by the manifestation and awareness of the adolescent's own individuality, liberation from child dependence, the discovery of his own "I", the emergence of self-reflection, self-awareness and value orientations. In the same way, puberty and sexual relations arise, social norms are mastered.
Teens are looking for people who will become models of behavior for them - an identification process. This is where past experiences, potential opportunities, and the choices they have to make are brought together. The process is very important as it defines roles in the emotional, social and professional realms.
Family support is important. The choice of a future profession is one of the most pressing issues of this period.
Quarter Life Crisis (Youth)
Death of the illusory "I" imposed by parents and environment. The infantile view of the world is destroyed, the personality becomes vulnerable. You may want to reconsider your life. There is a search for intimacy with a loved one, with whom the cycle "work - birth of children - rest" is to be completed. The lack of such experience leads to the isolation of a person and his closure on himself.
The period is characterized by the opportunity to break free of imposed expectations and start living your own life. It is important not to compare yourself with others and not be afraid of mistakes. Honestly admit to yourself what activities bring joy and pleasure. Start implementing them in your daily life. This applies to the professional sphere, and personal, and relationships.
Midlife crisis
If the difficulties in the previous stages were associated with building the future, then the midlife crisis is a story about the past.
It consists in a critical assessment and reassessment of what has already been achieved in life by this time. If the answers are unsatisfactory, the person has a sense of a meaningless life and wasted time. Depressive conditions may occur.
This stage usually begins when the children have grown up and started an independent life. The structure of the family is changing, relations are reaching a new level. Career growth slows down, vitality and sexual activity decrease. Physical changes occur in the body, which leads to thoughts about the approach of death.
Middle-aged people are beginning to take care of their time, health and relationships. The system of values is being revised. The creative potential increases due to the previously acquired experience and self-realization is actualized. Relationships move from a purely physical to an emotional level, and true intimacy appears.
The retirement crisis and the crisis of aging and death
Associated with retirement, a feeling of "social uselessness", the termination of active professional activity. Deterioration of health. Changing the value system: from physical strength to the value of wisdom and life experience.
The time when older people most of all need communication and support from loved ones.
Completion of a life path, satisfaction with which depends on the path traveled earlier. Achievement of integrity by a person. And also the acceptance of the finiteness of life.
In case of dissatisfaction with the summed up results of life, a person completes his path in fear of death and in despair from the impossibility of starting life anew.
