Does a manager need to develop charisma? If you think about it, then almost any employee, when changing a place of work, first of all chooses a manager with whom he will work. And then the working conditions, location, etc. It often happens that staff leave the company after a charismatic leader. After all, he is an authoritative leader who creates strong emotional bonds and forms a cohesive team.

A very important question - should you be born a charismatic or are there any ways to develop this quality in yourself?

I'm sure each of us can activate the internal reserves of your personality to develop (or enhance) your charisma. To do this, you need to have a desire, know the algorithms and act systematically.

Today I propose to think about what charismatic leaders do to be such and are there any common strategies? Can we repeat them successful models and achieve the desired result?

The first steps to becoming a charismatic personality:

1. Develop emotional intelligence

A charismatic leader affects people from an emotional level, evoking strong emotions in them (by the way, not necessarily positive ones). But evoking emotion is far from a high EQ.

Analyze your skills in terms of the 4 components of EQ:

1. Do I understand my own emotions accurately enough? To what extent do I understand the reasons for their occurrence in certain situations

2. How do I manage my emotional reactions to different people (situations)?

3. Do I know how to recognize the emotions of other people? As far as I understand, what is actually happening at this moment with the person?

4. How well do I manage to effectively build relationships using my ability to perceive my own and others' emotions?

Most likely, difficulties will arise already at the first skill and this is normal.

Start developing your EQ by analyzing your own emotions, noting in a peculiar matrix the name of the emotion and the situation that triggered it. Work on this issue for at least a month and track trends.

Always there are patternsso you can track what to work with next. With their reactions, with the strength of their manifestation, or with the events that cause them?

2. Improve your physical fitness

The quantity and quality of internal energy depends on your physical condition and how healthy you are. So, will she inner strength, which so attracts people to your field of influence.

Test allocation of their resources (effort and time) according to N. Pezeshkian's balance model. If all resources are taken as 100%, then what part of them do you invest in the areas of "Activity", "Contacts", "Dreams, fantasies, meanings"? And what remains for the fourth sphere "Body"?

Often it is the “Body” sphere in the balanced model that receives 5-10% of 100% and this naturally affects your leadership resources. Work through this imbalance with questions:

How do I distribute 100% of my energy between 4 areas of my life

What does this percentage distribution mean?

Which of the spheres receives energy more than others? And which one is being infringed upon?

What can be done for the sphere with the least energy resource?

What actions are needed in this area of my life?

The outcome of this self-coaching session should be an action plan with an indication of the timing of the execution.

Try to really harmonize your life - planning actions in any of the areas, reduce the load in the rest

3. Build your speaking skills

Articulate, emotionally charged and expressive speech is another charisma indicator. With the help of speech, the leader shares emotions, feelings, convinces people, giving weighty and clear arguments. Motivates and calls for action. Smooths out conflict situations, finds a common language with members of his team.

Develop skills lead people using a word.

It is best to do this with specialists, in a training or coaching format. Find a good coach for yourself and develop your presentation and public speaking skills.

As a coach, I can say that in order to develop oratory skills, you need to perform as much as possible. Here theory alone cannot help, only practice will lead to the desired result … And the answers to the questions of our session will help you to start working on this skill:

What are the benefits of developing my speaking skills

In what topics am I an expert and can I share my knowledge with others?

Are there any events in my company where I can make reports, presentations?

What external venues can I play on?

Develop your speaking skills, building up thus your leadership potential!
