Launching a leadership course for managers, the organizers conducted thematic polls among the target audience. "Who can become a leader?", "How to develop leadership qualities?" - the most popular questions for this course.

In my opinion, almost anyone who sets such a goal can become a leader. It's a good news. It can be overshadowed by the fact that to achieve such a goal it will be necessary to work hard. And if you are not afraid of the prospect of working on yourself, and the development of leadership qualities is a real necessity, join the series of free lessons (coach sessions) "Leadership potential".

Sessions "Leadership potential" - this is my view on the task of developing leadership qualities. A perspective based on successful coaching practice in the development of leadership competencies.

SESSION No. 1 SELF-DISCIPLINE

Self-discipline is the ability to get things done regardless of mood. Ability to follow a set goal despite real and fictional obstacles, laziness and momentary whims.

What is the most common obstacle to our efforts to discipline ourselves?

For example, the belief that the foundation of self-discipline is hard work. This phrase is often heard in coaching sessions from a coach and stops the movement forward.

I think that raising the level of self-discipline is more of a notorious "exit from the comfort zone", not hard work, but systematic training. And as a workout, building up self-discipline can be an enjoyable process.

When promoting the topic of self-discipline, you can use the tool SELF-DISCIPLINE … I suggest going through the first 3 steps of this model:

1. Purpose, desire

Test your goals. Are they really meaningful and desirable to you? Are they really yours or is it a reflection of other people's desires

A person's goals are based on his desires, dreams and values. You can test your goals by paying attention to what really matters to you. And what would you very much like to receive.

Think about what dreams or desires prompted you to set such goals? What life value does each of your goals align with? Why is it important for you to achieve this goal

If you go through the first step well, there is a high probability that problems with self-discipline will decrease many times:)

2. Energy

Analyze how you distribute your energy?

If we take the balance wheel as a basis, then What area of life do you give the maximum of your resources, especially temporary ones? And in what areas is the "sagging"

Think, perhaps, the lack of self-discipline is just fatigue from too much unnecessary action? Or maybe this is ineffective communication, the inability to say "no" or the fight against "time wasters"

Find those places in the balance model where you are inefficiently investing your energy. These are the points of your development in the near future.

3. Support

What or who will support you as you develop self-discipline

Personal development work requires a sufficient level of motivation. Before you start working on the quality "Self-discipline", consider what (or who) will be your source of motivation

Who can you turn to for support if your self-confidence weakens at some point? Relatives and friends can be support. But don’t think your problems are unique; maybe it’s worth seeking support from those who are solving problems like yours?

The success of coaching technologies lies in the action
