The human body is perfect but vulnerable. We do not have the chitinous cover of insects, the flexibility of a cat, or the agility of a monkey. There are many damaging factors that can disrupt the natural structure and function of the body. A blow with a hard object of medium strength causes pain, and the strength of human hands is sufficient to "shake" the soul out of the body. You may have seen prostheses in specialized stores that compensate for body defects. It is unpleasant to look at them, but in special cases they are vital.
- The immune system is a natural defense and survival system. Immunodeficiency is a state of increased vulnerability of the body, and increased immunity is the path to health. But we know of severe autoimmune diseases, when a person's own immunity becomes an enemy for him.
- Perhaps you are familiar with the phrase that a person is his own main enemy. If only because we are with us more often than someone else. Maybe not always in your mind, but for sure, which is closer than anyone else. Our own psychological defenses become relentless jailers, limiting our abilities and possibilities.

Psychological defenses appear in the very first months, since the baby's psyche is no less vulnerable than the body. A child simply cannot maintain mental stability and survive without early (childhood, archaic, primitive) psychological defenses. They are like those crutches and sliders that are needed when their legs are still or suddenly do not hold. A person without a set of at least three or four primitive defenses (splitting, isolation, withdrawal into fantasy, idealization, projective identification) is naked and unstable. A person who has few mature defenses, but at the same time has strong early childhood defenses does not live freely. Children's protections provide survival but do not contribute to a good life.
- Children's protections are manifested in the fact that a person reacts excessively, rudely and abruptly to even minor destabilizing factors, disrupting relationships with others. Such a flaw indicates that mature defenses do not work and that children's ones are turned on. In any case, without becoming stronger and without developing effective mature defenses (rationalization, sublimation, repression, isolation, moralization, sexualization, etc.), one cannot abandon the already proven early ones, even if they are not mature.
- We need ALL psychological protections, since there is always pain and memory of it behind the protection. It takes not a single month to feel stronger and become ready to "take off" psychological defenses from oneself, giving them to the world. At the same time, not giving up children's protections, but replacing them with more mature ones.

Psychological defenses can help you cope with anxiety and shame. If you do not meet with these affects on a daily basis, or have forgotten about them altogether, then your psychological defenses are working effectively. If you have satisfying relationships with other people without undue anxiety and shame, then you have mature psychological defenses.
- The defenses are always (!) Unconscious. This is not something that we can easily see by looking at ourselves in the mirror or by learning from someone that it is, for example, "your projection". To become aware of dysfunctional defenses and replace them with more adequate ones, sometimes months of soul work are required.
- In therapy, when trust, confidence and self-esteem are developed in dialogue with a specialist, psychological defenses become more flexible, subtle, elastic and effective. As if the armor of a knight, we exchange it for a light suit of a modern athlete.

Psychological Defenses And Neurosis
The phenomena called psychological defenses, in the process of normal human development, serve to adapt the psyche to the environment. As you know, neurosis is the price of a healthy psyche for socialization. That is, any mentally healthy adult has a neurosis of a greater or lesser degree of severity.
Crib. Psychological Defenses
1. Merger - I consider myself a part of another person or consider another person a part of myself, that is, I ascribe my thoughts, desires, feelings, qualities to another person, or vice versa, I ascribe to myself other people's desires, feelings, qualities, thoughts.
Psychological Defenses
All psychologists and psychotherapists talk about psychological defenses. But not all people understand that the defenses of our psyche are not only negative in color. But they also have a positive effect. J. Laplanche defines the defense mechanisms of the psyche as:
Research On Sleep Disorders, Psychological Defenses And Depression
Sleep disorders associated with disturbances in its structure are characteristic of latent endogenous depression. Since structural disturbances relate to changes in the normal alternation of sleep phases, it is necessary to deal with such a sleep phase as paradoxical or REM sleep, which is externally characterized by rapid eye movements in the sleeping person.
Ignoring The "Psychological Start": 9 Popular Harmful And Mistaken Ways To Relate To Yourself
Last week I wrote about the concept of a "psychological start" of a person. And how easy it is, not knowing the fate of a person, not being familiar with the conditions and psychological climate in which he grew up, to err in judgments about his abilities, capabilities and achievements.
