Many of us dream of graduating from university and building a brilliant career. But the world is dynamic and constantly changing, and society has many faces. It is difficult to find landmarks for the emerging personality. We do not have specific knowledge about future work, we choose a specialty impulsively and begin to learn: some work hard, some do not bother too much. But everyone sooner or later catches up with the awareness of the essence of the chosen case. Here we are faced with several crisis scenarios:

"This is not at all what I want to do!" In such cases, the students are overcome with melancholy and a sense of hopelessness. After all, a lot of time and effort has been spent. What for? And what to do next? This is a crisis moment, a moment of choice and decision-making. It is very important to keep the balance. We have gone this way, learned a lot, expanded our picture of the world. We had the courage to feel and admit that this business is not to our liking. It is worth to thank yourself already at this stage, to feel in this experience the value and resource for action. It is important to give yourself time to live with this thought and when the first worries are over, listen to yourself: where to go next?

We have become more experienced and smarter, now we better understand what we are interested in and why. What business brings us pleasure? Surely there is a way to get acquainted with this area in practice - in the form of a hobby or a trial lesson, lecture. Through trial and error, we find an area in which we can not only succeed, but also enjoy the work, the implementation in it. This is the surest path to happiness.

“I want to do this, but my knowledge is not enough, I have no experience at all. I am incompetent. How to start? This story is about how we felt the essence of the profession, its scope, depth and importance. We got a basic understanding of our life's work. And here we feel confusion, even fear. We feel our area of activity, but do not own the necessary tools. We understand in general what needs to be done, but how? If such a question arises, you need to find an answer to it. Set yourself a goal, learn and try out these tools. And here you need courage to continue your journey, despite the first setbacks. It is very easy to fall into the trap of your own fears that feed your insecurities. And then we decide to learn a little more, put it off for later, gain experience. We collect certificates of all kinds of courses and trainings, we turn ourselves into eternal students. There is more and more knowledge, but without practice it becomes a useless burden.

"Now I will look for another job to earn money, and in time I will switch to my specialty." Experience is good if it is related to our life's work. If we postpone it, switching to work in another area, the focus of our attention shifts and our resources go to development in a different direction. You can, of course, combine training with other work, but our energy will be distributed in these areas, and the results in both areas will not be high enough. There is a risk that the main work will consume most of the resources, and less and less time will be devoted to development in the desired area.

"To work, you need experience, and to get experience, you need to work." This is a vicious circle that can be broken only by showing your will and determination. It is not difficult to find an opportunity to work in the right direction, focusing on your advantages, strengths, and enthusiasm. The outwardly unenviable role of a trainee helps to probe this direction from the inside, to take the first step. By accumulating experience, we move further towards our goal. If we are on the right path - we trust and listen to the world, keeping our attention on our business, we notice many paths of development around. The main pitfall of this scenario: getting stuck in a familiar position. You need to remember your goal and move on.

"I want to work only for myself, to develop my business." This is a great option if we know exactly what we want to do. A clear vision of the business in all its nuances helps to avoid additional costs and is the key to success. However, to start, we need capital, usually this is investment from outside. Even the most promising and talented specialists need to declare themselves, try themselves in business. Here you should pay attention to large organizations in your specialization, or to investors investing in startups. It is important to try, to find the strength to go further in spite of the first setbacks. Own successful business is not a question of one year, and not everyone has entrepreneurial qualities.

How to proceed?

  • Take responsibility. This is your choice, your path and your life. It is impossible to achieve your goal by passing important decisions to other people. After all, they have their own interests and goals.
  • Watch yourself. What kind of work do you like best? What activities do you feel confident about? What makes you feel depressed?
  • Take a look around. The world lives a rich, varied life. We live in a constant stream of external stimuli, and our consciousness is very selective. If you tune in to a goal, then soon you will simply begin to notice the necessary events, places, people.
  • Let yourself be wrong. You don't have to find your life's work on the first try. Tune in to the search, feel the pleasure of this adventure. Find what is useful for yourself every step of the way.
  • Be open to new experiences. Try yourself in different roles and activities. Practical experience will help you navigate and make decisions. Such experiments will expand your consciousness and help you to throw aside the directions that are not suitable for you.
  • Be guided by the situation. You have a goal and a vision to achieve it. But allow yourself to be flexible. Make decisions as events unfold, taking into account the current circumstances.
  • Throw away the guilt over "wasted years." Life is limited in time - that's a fact. But each of its episodes is an opportunity to learn an important lesson, to mature to the decision we need, awareness. Drowning in guilt, you reject the value of past experiences and see no further path. Accept what happened earlier as an objective reality, let go of regret and move on.

Each person is unique, so any of the paths may turn out to be yours. This can be a real discovery, perhaps even a shock! But when you find this niche, everything will fall into place and this joy cannot be described in words.
