Laziness … What is it - a mortal sin or the engine of progress? Let's try to figure it out. The word "laziness" itself comes from lat. lenus is calm, slow, lethargic and signifies lack or lack of hard work. But in the list of deadly sins, laziness appears under a different name - Acedia (lat.), Which means despondency, apathy and laziness, including. But laziness is not always discouragement. Surely you are familiar with its other forms: laziness-lack of inspiration, weather laziness, bored laziness, laziness-time to rest, laziness-self-love and many other forms, types and subspecies. And of course, the well-known laziness is the engine of progress.
By the way, laziness can be very cheerful and cheerful. For example:
- lie lazily and peacefully in bed for another 5 minutes (and another 5, and another 5 - but who counts them!), - lazily and dreamily admire the landscape outside the window, being late for work, - walk lazily and slowly in the park, skipping a meeting, - writing something lazily, being distracted for a long time by pleasant thoughts, -… come up with your own version of cheerful laziness.
But no matter how funny your laziness is, sooner or later you will be faced with the need to do something with it. Indeed, it often greatly interferes with effective work and progress towards the goal. In order to understand what to do with it, you need to understand its reasons.
The most common reasons for laziness are:
- Lack of motivation (not really wanting).
- Lack of willpower (I want to, but I just can't).
- Uncertainty (and I want to, and I can, but I can not master).
- Fear of the task at hand (often comes with insecurity).
- Lack of power (internal batteries burned out).
- Incorrect organization of the workflow (without taking into account your individuality).
- Incorrect distribution of time (without taking into account their internal rhythms, orientation to a rigid schedule).
There are two ways to combat laziness:
- elimination of the reasons that caused it,
- accepting laziness and trying to understand it.
As part of the fight against laziness, you can train willpower, work with motivation, increase confidence in yourself and your strengths, work with fears, increase personal energy, etc. All of this will have an effect, it also needs to be done.
But now I want to talk about the second way of dealing with laziness: accepting it. There is no need to waste efforts and energy on such a struggle. It's a fight without a fight. It is like a journey deep into oneself, helping to understand oneself even better. We are used to considering laziness as an enemy, evil, something alien, from which we need to get rid of. But in fact, laziness is a part of ourselves. Since everything that happens has meaning, so does laziness. You just need to find it. And the meanings that you find may go much deeper than the above reasons for laziness. In addition, it will be yours, the present, and not the general and universal.
How to do it? To begin with, accept laziness, stop feuding with it. Imagine the image of your laziness, you can materialize it with the help of paints.
Ask your lazy:
- What does she want from you? What does he want to say?
- Why did it appear in your life during this period?
- How can you help her?
- What can you do so that she can leave?
Try it, the answers of laziness may surprise you. After all, laziness is not necessarily a universal evil. Laziness is the body's signaling system. She can say a lot, for example, that you:
- take little time for yourself,
- forgot about the rest
- overload your body with stress or other stress,
- doing something you don't like
- doing what you love, but right now you would like to do something else,
- find your answer.
And allow yourself to be lazy sometimes! This can be very beneficial to your health.
