Today my mother called, warned that she would come to visit. Recently, Lena was not happy with these visits, although earlier “mother visiting” meant that it would be possible to take a break from too active Borka. Grandmother and grandson love to do little things together - they walk, read, and Lena manages to put herself in order a little - to touch up her hair or to do a manicure … In 3 months my son will be 3 years old. Difficult age - “mom, myself”, constant “I don’t want, I will not” and endless “why” beginning. But all the same, Lena is not happy with her mother's arrival. Questions will start again, which in their conversations have become the central topic - when will Lena come to work.

The story with work began a long time ago. It was generally accepted in the family that working is an honorable duty and duty of everyone. Everyone worked - both dad and mom, both grandparents. Everything - at a large metallurgical plant - a city-forming enterprise. Lena always saw serious and busy parents. In general, she, of course, was much more fortunate than many familiar children of her age - she was taken from the garden every day, although the garden was round-the-clock. Other children slept only on weekends - the schedules were tight, the plant worked in 4 shifts. In general, Lena was the "elite" of their group.

At school - of course, extended. And how else - no one at home, or sleeping after the night shift mom or dad, who need to rest. Lena tried to work conscientiously where she was due to her age - she did her homework on her own, helped around the house, went shopping. She graduated from school well, without grades. The question "where to go to study?" did not stand in front of her. It had long been decided, still in the eighth grade, that she would go to the local polytechnic, but to an economic specialty, to be away from work in the shops, and always warm. There were other universities in the city, but they were not seriously considered.

Lena entered the evening immediately - so that for sure, and so that she could be combined with work. Mom found her a position in the plant accounting department, and “working days” stretched - from 8 to 17 work, from 18 to 21 study. The schedule is not easy, but "for whom it is easy now" - the whole family worked in the same tough regime. For 6 years of study, Lena's accounting career progressed, new prospects opened up. The plant was bought by a huge metallurgical holding, the financial service was strengthened - it was necessary to transfer the work of the enterprise to modern rails. And for this we need young and hard-working people, like Lena was.

After 2 years, she was already heading a whole department. Parents could not get enough of it - this is at the age of 26! They had to achieve their positions much longer, and now, with this restructuring and the approaching pension, the risk of dismissal has become serious. Lena was viewed as a support and successor of the labor dynasty.

There, at the factory, Lena met her future husband. Where else could she meet him? All life is work-home. In general, and with the "personal", everything turned out as well as possible - they signed, played a wedding, and after 10 months Lena left "for the baby." From the outside it might seem that life was a success - a husband, a son, a good position after leaving the decree is guaranteed … However, Lena did not feel happy. For the first time in her nearly 30 years, taking care of her home and her son, she tasted freedom. You do not need to run to the factory "on a dial tone", you can walk during the day, carve out an hour while your son sleeps, and watch the series. She finally started baking and learned how to make preparations for the winter. In general, it has become a "home club".

And also decorative creativity appeared in her life - Lena was carried away by decoupage. Everyone knows that every good accountant has an artist asleep. The one that slept in Lena took - and woke up. And even when he woke up, Lena was buying napkins with floristic motives in packs, studied master classes on craquelure techniques on youtube, ordered varnishes and paints. Her hobby for 2 years began to bring a small but stable income - she sold her works through the Fair of Masters, and they left all over Russia by mail with a declared value.

So Lena had a dream - to do a beautiful craft at home and leave her job at the factory. The dream has so far been only a dream. Everyone - mom, dad, husband - expected Lena to leave the decree and continue to build a managerial career. And Lena had a plan of escape …

That is why Lena was not happy with her mother's visit today. Mom pushed to go to work - she had already agreed about the kindergarten for Borka, and Lena did not know how to say that she wanted to quit. All these "fintiflyushki", as Lenin's mother called creations, were not considered work. You have to go to work! And sitting at home and doing "handicrafts" is for lazy people and stupid chickens. There was no hope that she would be understood and supported. But the thought was spinning in my head: "Still, I will tell her that I will choose myself what to do!"

Such stories are not uncommon in my consulting practice - often women only on maternity leave think about who they see themselves as professionally, and discover new talents in themselves. And, more often than not, they have to rely only on their own strength, to resist the pressure of relatives and friends. If you are faced with the task of changing your profession, getting out of the role of a "business shark" and mastering the role of a "house sorceress" - the consultation of a psychologist, coach or career consultant can help you. The support of a specialist is invaluable when there is no one else to rely on.
