When communicating, there is an exchange of energy between people. Perhaps it is such an environment that empties you internally and deprives you of vitality.
After communicating with easy-going and cheerful people, you will no longer want to return to the old company.
Don't make an elephant out of a fly
If something went wrong in your life or there was a trouble, you should thank this situation for the gift of experience and let it go. Perhaps you have only benefited from not getting what you want.
Usually, trouble happens before something beautiful is about to enter our lives.
For example, if you fail an interview, life doesn't end there. Most likely, after a while you will receive a more interesting offer. Thoughts like these can help fight negative thinking.
Cut off the excess
We are what surrounds us. If you want to learn to think positively, start small: remove from your life the things that upset you or cause negative emotions. For example, stop watching television programs about celebrities or soap operas. These shows rarely focus on positive events.
As a result, you will have free time that you need to fill by watching funny films, listening to good music, and meeting new people.
You can overcome negative thinking if you don't feed it.
Find the true cause of suffering
Surely you are familiar with the situation when you were really hungry, but then you realized that you are really thirsty. By the same principle, one can understand the true reason for negative thinking. Perhaps, in fact, you suffer from a lack of understanding with your mother and are sad after every unsuccessful conversation or quarrel. Then, being in a bad mood, you negatively color all the events in your life.
Exercise to develop creative thinking
Try a simple exercise.
The task: imagine the most common brick in front of you, white or red. Now write on paper ten ways to use it in a non-standard way. What else can a simple brick be useful for besides building? Write any answers that come to your mind.
Examples of responses:
- you can sell it,
- you can sit
- can be placed under the wheel of a car,
- use for self-defense …
Common goal: in the future, also reflect on any negative situation that has occurred or may occur in your life.
Instead of a brick, you can use any object that catches your eye for exercise.
Ask yourself a question:
- What are the benefits I get from failure in this case?
Over time, you will learn to find the pluses in seemingly completely negative situations, which will help you avoid negative thinking.
- Active sports can help release suppressed aggression and negative emotions.
- Yoga promotes deep relaxation and healing of the body. Any physical exercise gives us a good mood and a boost of vitality. Try to be more often in nature, in the fresh air.
- The contemplation of flowing water, the feeling of a warm breeze and the sounds of birds singing heal the soul no worse than psychotherapy.
- Try to combine nature walks with deep, relaxed breathing.
- Can be symbolically dispelled in the wind. If you were sincere with yourself, after such an exercise you will feel freedom and lightness.
This will be a way to get rid of negative thinking. If you are worried about something - do it to the maximum!
In foreign psychological practice, there was a case when a man who considered himself … a giraffe came to the psychotherapist. He did not have any mental abnormalities, but nevertheless the unfortunate man could not rationally explain why he felt that way. The psychotherapist went for the trick, telling the client "in secret" that all people are actually giraffes, just no one has the courage to admit it. As a result, the man felt understood and calmed down, his life improved.
Based on this example, you can bring your experiences to the most absurd form in order to eventually laugh and return inner peace. It's good if there is a person next to you who laughs with you.
A physical way to deal with negative thinking
The physical way to eliminate negative thinking is based on the negative reinforcement method.
This method is as effective as it is difficult, since you will have to constantly monitor your thoughts
- Put a thin rubber band around your wrist (usually used to tie bundles of banknotes).
- As soon as you think of something bad, pull the elastic to the side and release it abruptly.
- The painful sensation will remind you that you are thinking wrong.
The main secret of success is that if you cannot change the situation, then you need to change your attitude towards it.
The development of new attitudes requires constant monitoring of your thoughts, try to notice when you have negative thinking.
