50 cartoons and 11 TV series with descriptions

Do you love cartoons as the child psychologist loves them?

I have long promised to write a list of cartoons - for "multotherapy". I give psychology students obligatory homework - watching cartoons. And in order to understand how children live, and to facilitate diagnosis and therapy.

Knowing the child's favorite cartoon, the child's favorite hero, you understand in what process he is now living. And how can you accompany him, if necessary, offering to watch or play "cartoon".

All these cartoons are not just for children. And for those who for some reason consider themselves adults.

General safety precautions:

- Cartoon - together with parents, not together with parents.

- It is important to watch new cartoons only with adults (or better, adults themselves at least get acquainted with the topic).

- Up to 2 years old - there are no useful cartoons. There are more or less safe ones that help parents to relax a little.

- We won't be able to take the tablet away from the child - and we probably won't need it. It is important that the whole world does not move to the tablet.

- There are definitely no good and bad cartoons - there are those that do not correspond to age, and those that the child watches himself.

- Each cartoon can be both healing and traumatic for a particular child (or adult) (therefore, it is important to be close and watch the child's reactions).

(The order of the cartoons is not important. The description, of course, is subjective. I tried to write about "additional" meanings. All cartoons are family 5+)

Each cartoon can be used to talk about a complex topic later. Or not to speak. And just sit with an embrace

For babies (up to 5 years old):

1. Little Bill (Little Bill) [Little Bill / Little Bill (1999)] - the series, the protagonist is 5-year-old baby Bill - with whom in each episode children can learn - to deal with different complex topics, communicate, make peace, empathize. The cartoon shows great support in the family, relationships with an older brother and sister, and the appearance of a younger one.

2. Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood is one of my favorite TV shows. The main character is a Tiger cub who lives in a magical world with friends - a kitten, an owl, princes and a girl. This is a completely therapeutic series - created with the support of psychologists - a series about what you can do with aggression, anxiety, and more.

3. Dr. Plusheva [Doc McStuffins] - fairy tale therapy - (not only for girls). In each episode, they deal very carefully with what may disturb children of different ages. Each episode has a beautiful soundtrack - songs can also be used in life with children.

4. Malyshariki - you can learn with the heroes. A good, thoughtful TV show.

5. Nouky and Friends - a very good educational cartoon. Plush soft heroes, and the show itself is kind and soft.

6. Fidget Zou is a therapeutic favorite. I love this series very much - in the city of Zebras, together with my family - parents, grandparents, and great-grandmother, Zu the bison lives. Each episode is a kind story. With an example of harmonious support from adults, with some important experience.

7. Olivia (4+ and for older ones) [Olivia] - a series about Olivia the pig and her friends (my eldest son and I read books about this heroine). The pig is 9 years old, she has a younger brother (with whom she competes). Classmates. The show has a good sense of humor. Many funny recognizable situations.

8. Fixies - educational animated series. Everything is good in him. But - it is important to alternate it with your own search for answers. It is important to give the child the opportunity to have time - to formulate and ask his question, and not to accustom him to a ready-made presentation of information. A small generation is already growing up, overstimulated by fixies. And not passing the "why?" Phase.

9. Dinosaur Train - for little paleontologists.

10. The Octonauts - a journey with a team of underwater explorers.

11. Korisnі Pidkazki - cartoon encyclopedia of the PlusPlus channel (3+ …)

Feature-length cartoons:

1. Ballerina is an amazing one-piece strong cartoon. About faith in a dream and faith in yourself. About trust. Strength. On the important question - "why are you dancing?" - which can refer to any action. And that professionalism without passion, without feelings is a "lifeless" craft.

2. Panda kung fu (1-3 series) [Kung Fu Panda] (+ secrets of the masters - the series [Kung Fu Panda: Secrets of the Masters]) - about the wisdom of being yourself. And that there are no secret ingredients. Only we, our potential and our determination make us "dragon warriors". And this is an obligatory cartoon for teachers and parents - about the futility of striving to make children out of what they cannot be, but to look for the very "THEIR" traits and qualities. Many wise and strong in the cartoon

3. Moana - if life (a person, Love, an idea) is deprived of the heart - it will become a monster. About leadership. Courage. Fidelity. Very wise cartoon. There are scenes where it is important to “cover” the children - to take them in their arms, to hug them. Important for everyone who decides to be themselves. Who am I? Where is my heart?

4. Monsters on Vacation [Hotel Transylvania] - about how "monsters are people too" about how parental Love out of fear can differ from love out of concern. About accepting yourself as yourself. And about letting the other be different. And about "Tink". There are many good jokes in the first and second parts. The third is controversial.

5. How to Train Your Dragon - all three parts - there are so many layers! That strength is not always in the muscles. About how often children lack our faith in them. And what we think of as "pride and strength" often creates problems. About how important it is to accept the child's right to be different. That it is not the weapon that wins. That if something scares us, we need to get to know it better. Well, there are many, many very important things. The last part is touching about growing up and letting go.

6. Mulan (2 parts) - that a Woman can be different. And it is wonderful when a girl can be strong, courageous and gentle. About the support of the clan. Well, there is also a lot of beauty.

7. Puzzle [Inside Out] - oh! A good cartoon guide to the World of emotions. And brain science. Afterwards, it’s great to talk to children about emotions and feelings. And about what is our support - inside and outside.

8. Park Jun [Wonder Park] - this cartoon can be divided into two parts - for adults (there is a lot of wisdom - about dreams and the power of fantasy, anxiety and fear, about parentification (when a child becomes a "parent for his parent"), oh fear that something irreparable may happen to a loved one, that we are responsible for what we create, and we can fix a lot). And for kids - where there is a lot of action, racing, fights, and so on.

9. Lilo & Stitch [Lilo & Stitch] - "the family is like that, where no one will leave or betray." And where you will be accepted with all your "alien" and "bad". Adventures. Intergalactic devotion and warmth.

10-11. The Mystery of Coco, The Book of Life - cartoons very neatly walk through the theme of death. They are beautiful - about the connection of everyone in the family. About the destination. Friendship. Strength. Very beautiful and wise. Songs from the "secret of CoKo" - we sing in the family.

12. Toy Story (1, 2, 3, 4) [Toy Story] (in 3 there are some scary shots for kids with old toys, they have an unpleasant jaw attachment) - before the cartoon, you can tell that toys used to have mechanisms, unlike the present). - about support, loyalty, growing up, friendship. timeless. In the last episode (it is still in the box office) - a very beautiful hint of what will (or maybe) with us when our children grow up.

13. Chicken Little - this cartoon can be watched even for the sake of one phrase - the father of the protagonist - "it's a pity that you decided that my love must be deserved."

14. The Incredibles - how to master your Superpower. About support. After this cartoon, it's good to talk about "super powers" - which are available not only to superheroes. (And you can also talk about what kind of monster our resentment and feeling of smallness can turn into - this is me about the "Exceptional")

15. Ratatouille - Everyone can cook! The main thing is to be yourself. And be true to yourself - even if it seems like you are a rat. delicious beauty.

16. Robots - a similar theme - "no matter what you're made of - you can shine!" A cool cartoon about belief in dreams, and how, if you don't give up, you yourself become what you dreamed of.

17. Valli [WALL · E] - kind, wise, strong, beautiful, funny, "human" cartoon about robots. And it seems to me about people, this cartoon is for adults.

18. Rise of the Guardians is one of my favorite multi-level cartoons. About belief in miracles. About the miracle that we keep in our childhood memories, that laughter can defeat fear. And that we are guardians for our children and for our inner child.

19. Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole - The history of the owls. A beautiful cartoon about nobility. The strength and beauty of His flight (there are some scenes that are scary for kids).

20. Up [Up] - a cartoon about love. Different ages and times. Handsome, kind and weeping. I think it is more than 7+ for adults as well.

21. Despicable Me - beautiful and fun about how you can become a supervillain just for the sake of being proud of your parents. And how Love, care and closeness helps to open your shell. And show your nefarious authenticity. There is a lot in the cartoon for all ages.

22. Rapunzel [Tangled] - a beautiful "legendary" story about love, finding yourself, and "your own". About your strength and magic. On the two sides of motherhood. (Yes, you can look at an evil witch as part of "motherhood"), about dreams and finding.

23. The Lion King (3 parts) - a lot of power in this cartoon. About the circle of life. Leadership. Friends. Meanness and loyalty. On the connection between generations. About the ability to relax. Hakuna matata when watching with babies - watch out for the scene where Mufasa dies.

29. The Princess and the Frog - a story about how sometimes by kissing a toad, you can become a toad yourself. A cartoon about integrity, beauty of dreams, magic and love.

30. Sing - a lot of wonderful music. Sense of humor. About the power of the Voice, friendship and loyalty. And that if we found our voice. He will be heard.

31. Brave at heart [Brave] - and again that we can be different. That we are always looking for a balance between want and need. And about the present - which disenchants and brings together. It is very good for families with teenagers - especially when mothers start to infuriate with their "boring" and rules.

32. Frozen (and especially the short film - Olaf and Christmas). The fact that in each force and emotion - its "optimal amount" is important. And by hiding from others (in fact, from ourselves) we only inflict pain. A cartoon about devotion and love, which is a miracle in itself. Olaf and Christmas [Olaf's Frozen Adventure] is about traditions, about what creates "our world".

33. Avatar - the legend of Aang [Avatar: The Last Airbender] - TV series. There are episodes that you need to watch carefully with children, there are those that cause delight.

34. Cars - each character has its own story and therapy, and you can just watch, like a very good cartoon, just rejoicing and being inspired.

43. Happy Feet - in a flock of Penguins, where everyone is singing and looking for their Song of the Heart - a "special" penguin is born. Without a voice. But he "dances with his heart." And his dance became a salvation for the whole flock. A touching and wise cartoon. Awesome soundtrack.

44. Storks

45. The Road to El Dorado

46. Antz Antz

47. Ice Age

48. Aladdin

49. Hercules

50. Secrets of Pets [Hercules]

51. Rio

52. Zootopia - I love this cartoon very much, it needs to be reviewed by all adults before the elections, but for children - be careful, there are scary scenes for them.

Hayao Miyazaki] and Tim Burton [Tim Burton]. But they don't suit everyone.
