*** from different parts of the country, marketers have become more active, vying with each other to offer all sorts of ways to lose weight. And many lovely ladies who are very good and satisfied with themselves, having involuntarily fallen into captivity of these attacks, begin to doubt “maybe I should?”. "Maybe you don't need to?" - I "mirror".

For most psychotherapists, the word diet is associated with an eating disorder, or in simple words obesity, anorexia, bulimia, etc. But we already know about this problem, so we often become patients of completely different specialists. In my practice, the topic of diets and all kinds of self-torture, in 9 cases out of 10 comes up in work with clients with menstrual irregularities, diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, allergies and all kinds of dermatitis, etc. I also wanted to write about diabetics and heart patients, and realized in time that one way or another any psychosomatic patient is familiar with the topic of diets firsthand.

So how do you know if a diet is "evil" or a necessity?

With the permission of the clients, I will share some stories with you. Of course, I will not be able to describe the entire therapeutic cycle, but I will write some of the conclusions that are important to take into account for every girl or woman who dares to play a little.

Diet as it is

Actually, the modern meaning of the word diet is known to everyone. In a more general sense, this is a "diet", in a narrower sense of all kinds of food restrictions. And the ancient Greeks grieve, who just wanted to describe a harmonious way of life with such a term.

Because this term comes from ancient Greek. δίαιτα, which translates as Lifestyle (as an option - way and life).

And then, it all depends on what kind of specialist is encroaching on this very lifestyle of yours. In interpretation, we get both moderation and limitation, and balance, and harmony, and so on. The truth, as usual, will be somewhere in between, but in our case it is not so important.

I want to draw your attention to the fact that normally the concept of diet is not tied to a time frame. And that's why it matters.

Body constitution

Yes, we often say that we are all different, and what suits one person may be harmful or simply useless for another. But at the most crucial moment, somewhere this knowledge is lost, and we begin to orient ourselves and compare ourselves with people of absolutely different physiological types.

Broad shoulders, abs with cubes, mesmerizing muscle relief … Or just a slender waist, hands, ankles … there is a type of people who, under normal circumstances, NEVER shine.

Lisa, 33 years old, ds: acne, acne: “When grief happened in my life, I was absorbed in it for a long time. I don't remember how I ate, I remember that my relatives forced me to eat and I honestly ate everything that was offered. But despite this, I lost about 25 kg of weight. At my height of 173 cm, my 48 kg looked impressive, ribs protruded, my chest from the usual size 4 turned into either 1 or L or 0, I was very thin … In the summer, to dispel me a little, my mother insisted that I went to the alumni meeting. Looking at the photos of this meeting, years later, I was perplexed. Next to my normal girlfriends, I still looked "plump". Despite all my thinness, my shoulders and hips still created the silhouette of a bun."

In normal anatomy there is such a concept - the constitution (of the body). It says that each person has a certain congenital, hereditary type of physique or figure, temperament and other physical properties and characteristics.

These properties are practically not subject to change. More precisely, recalling the deliberate deformation of organs in some tribes, or the common methods of "pedagogy of the past", there are certainly attempts to change this, but such an experience is often painful and has a number of negative consequences.

A person inclined to be overweight can weigh 60 kg and 110 kg with a height of 158 cm. In this case, of course, we have a place to walk along the path of correction. But to make him weigh 48 kg is, excuse me, only through violence.

The problem often lies in the fact that being overweight gives discomfort to people who are prone to obesity. An unrealistic logical simplicity that we instantly forget when looking at a fitness trainer of a completely different constitution. And it is likely that this coach gained extra 20 kg during pregnancy and knows what and how to do with it later in order to regain her shape. But in 90% of cases, such trainers are people who are not inclined to be overweight, because in the bundle of psychosomatics, this is a question not only of the body, but also of character, these are people of goals, achievements, activity, activity, etc., in contrast to "donuts thinkers ".

So the moral to which I am bringing you is that people who are constitutionally inclined to be overweight will ALWAYS have problems with weight, someone with less, someone with more, but this is for life.

And breakdowns after diets are not only a consequence of dietary thinking, as such, but also a consequence of the fact that a person is going against his nature. He does not understand and does not accept himself as he is, as his mother gave birth to him, as God created him.

Purpose of the diet

Therefore, understanding our constitutional characteristics gives us information and helps us make the right choice of diet (or method of losing weight). But initially, every time we understand that we need to lose weight, it is important to ask the question “Why should I lose weight?”, And subject each new answer to a new execution, for example:

Why do I need to lose weight - to fit into old jeans

Why should I fit into old clothes - so that there is something to wear

Why do I need this - because there is no money to buy a new one

So the problem is being overweight or not having the money to meet your basic needs?

For especially dull thin women, it is recommended to ask the question “Why” to the bitter end and not be limited to 5-9 answers). To make it easier to navigate, I will ask you the direction of the sides in which you can dig: the material pole, the professional pole, the family pole, the communication pole (friends, colleagues, relatives), the emotional pole, the aesthetic pole and the health pole. The introspection exercises at the end of this article can also be helpful.

Indeed, in fact, very often our body becomes a hostage of our complexes and other psychological problems.

Ira, 19 years old, ds: dysmenorrhea: “After I ripped off my stomach, I cannot torment myself with diets. I go to the gym every day, keep counting each calorie, weigh myself before and after meals … I understand that you consider my weight to be normal, but I know that with this appearance, no guy will take me seriously … Every time I will like someone I see only how he takes his eyes away from my priests and in them it says "baby, have you been in training for a long time?"

Every time there is a desire to lose weight, it is important to understand the true reason for this desire by all available methods. If we have low self-esteem, then it will remain at any weight, the complex will change, but the problem will remain.

No amount of diet and physical activity can solve the problem of a psychological nature, as our imagination depicts. If we suddenly lose weight, our loved ones will not love us anymore, we will not be given a better job or salary, we will not love ourselves "new", because there is always something to complain about in dislike, we will not earn more money (unless of course we distribute dietary supplements) …

If with the help of a diet you plan to solve your psychological problems - this is a sure way to even bigger problems, both psychological (frustration, frustration, low self-esteem, etc.) and physical, when each new time the body will be subjected to more and more bullying and experiments.

In fairness, it should be noted that in addition to psychological problems, there are also quite tangible problems.

Natasha, 45 years old, ds: panic attacks against the background of a hypertensive crisis: “I have no problem accepting myself. My mother was always fat, my father and brother are not dandelions either, I grew up with the understanding that everything is fine with me. When the antenatal clinic doctor said that being overweight could be the reason for my infertility, I thought that she was not herself. But my husband and I really wanted a baby, so I set out to lose at least 20-25 kg. For a long time I felt out of place, like a slaughtering lamb, but when my daughter started to run, I realized that my dietary mission had been accomplished. Maybe I have these extra pounds, but they do not bother me or my loved ones."

It is important to remember that being overweight is not just an aesthetic problem, but also a problem of physical imbalance. This is a load on the heart, musculoskeletal system, liver and kidneys, etc. Sometimes being overweight is directly the source of serious health problems. In this case, the diet should be prescribed by a specialist and should be of a therapeutic nature.

Nastya, 29 years old, ds: depression: “As long as I paid any attention to my husband, children and TV shows, I understood that my bad mood is just a black streak that will end soon. But one day a day came when I just did not want to get out of bed and I didn’t care what would happen next. The remnants of my reason said that something was wrong with me, that I could not do without a doctor, and it was the understanding that I would no longer get to the doctor that made me gather all the rest of my will into a fist and leave the house. Two months of treatment with various drugs did not give much effect. This is my scourge, medicines always work badly for me. Out of hopelessness, the doctor put me on some kind of oriental diet. All I needed was to remove all the chemistry as much as possible, eat only warm food, use some dry seasonings and limit flour products. A week later, the result was on the face, and a month later I recalled the last half a year as a bad dream that happened by mistake and not with me. Yes, diet is not always synonymous with weight loss, diet is often a much better treatment and lifestyle change.

However, there is also a completely different motivation, not tied to health improvement or complexes.

Nastya, 30 years old, doctor's office: allergic dermatitis: “I realized that it was not mine when I began to crash around. I knocked the child with my hips when turning, hitting the corners of the tables, not understanding how I could not calculate my dimensions. I tried to jump on a chair and miraculously remained intact, because it felt like I was the same fluff as 10 years ago, I could not fit in the car in my previous place. This is a kind of paradox. I was quite good and pleased with myself, my body was loved and well-groomed as never before, but my self-perception did not coincide with reality. Only -14 kg and my brain measured against my body"

Be that as it may, before choosing a diet, it is first of all important to understand its purpose. It will depend on whether we need to lose weight quickly or slowly, can we afford a "harmful" diet or we only need a sparing one, we want to lose weight once, or it is important for us to always be slimmer, and in general we need a diet or just work with a psychologist, etc..d.

Diet price

Many people know that the so-called mono diets undermine our health. Thin women who are not in a hurry to lose weight quickly, at any cost and at one time, choose more sparing poly diets, healthy, fortified, etc. And nevertheless, troubles can arise here as well.

Natasha, 42 years old, doctor's office: irritable bowel syndrome: “The more I lost weight, the more terrible my body became. I visualized images from photographs before my first pregnancy, expecting that just about, a little more, and I will return to myself again. But loose skin, stretch marks and wrinkles are all that I got in return for the 35 kg lost. Friends complimented me, and I felt like a thief in a supermarket, because I knew that there was a cloud of stretched skin under the linen, which I could do nothing about but roll it up. For the second year now I have been going to the gym, gained about 13 kg and little by little the situation began to level out. My body endured and gave birth to two beautiful boys, I am 42, not 18, probably, I had to go through this in order to understand that “not all that glitters is gold”"

But sometimes diets lead to better quality changes.

Oksana, 37 years old, doctor's office: urolithiasis: “It's easy to lead a healthy lifestyle, in the summer, when fruits and vegetables are all around, when you can work out at the stadium … The first winter of a healthy lifestyle was on the verge of breaking my whole philosophy. I realized that pasta and potatoes are our everything. It is simply unthinkable to think how much a variety of food ration costs, this is not about us, where do such money come from, people ??? But the severity to which I was not used to, made me look for options, I started experimenting with seasonal vegetables, talked a lot on the Internet in search of the right recipes and gradually came to understand that you need to not just follow a diet, but also change your lifestyle. By the next winter, I had a new job, a good income and the opportunity to visit a gym and a beauty salon. Once, sitting in an Italian restaurant, I thought that if I didn’t decide to accept the challenge of fate, now I would be sitting in my mother’s kitchen, hugging a plate of fried potatoes”

Here I am not calling for anything, but simply reminding that before "getting involved in a fight," you need to think about the consequences.

A life-long diet

These are the points to which I would like to draw your attention. And now about the main thing.

Natasha, 48 years old, dz: migraine: “What have I not tried to do with myself. After 14 years, my body began to grow by leaps and bounds, fasting, enemas, hellebore, porridge diet, separate meals, the insulin method, the Kremlin diet … new, did not have time to lose weight completely - a second pregnancy and a new hell and a nightmare of my body … But thanks to the abundance of information on the Internet, I began to understand that I am what I am and this is forever. Yes, you do not need to bring yourself to a state of loss of pulse, or the inability to tie your own laces, but you should not expect that I will become clear-ringing while happy and calm. Later I learned some simple dietary truths that you can eat at night and at night, and fatty and fried, and sweet and starchy foods, while eating and not disfiguring yourself … and it worked and continues to work for many years already."

If we know that our constitutional characteristics are such that we tend to be overweight, we need to forget diet, as a synonym for fasting, and learn a new meaning of the term diet: "Diet is a way of life"

If I cannot keep my weight without dietary restrictions, if this is my constant problem, if my excess weight is a matter of my health, and not of psychological complexes, I need to choose a diet that will be with me throughout my life.

Will I be able to eat only kefir and buckwheat all my life? Will I be able to calculate the calories of each dish all my life? Will I be able to eat only protein food all my life? Will I be able to eat only raw vegetables and fruits all my life? Etc.

Will I be able to and is it necessary? Continuation Psychological aspects and secondary benefits of "losing weight" client
