Even at the beginning of our studies, we were reassured - it is not the task of a psychotherapist to make a person happy.

I think that happiness is generally a bad goal for life. So, in order to take and subordinate her to this whole bright mission: “We must be happy!”.

Eat ice cream - happiness will come, but short. And buy a bag - it will last.

This eternal hunt forces us to build facades and staged angles. You have to give up compassion, not allow anger, you should strive for everything bright and new, wrinkles should not be allowed, a bad mood is possible only alone and deep inside - there should be a restored smile outside, you should not stay at home on the weekend - you need a photo proof.

It’s clear and obvious that it doesn’t work that way.

One of my happy moments is a cheap Italian, a piece of cheese for two and a room on the third floor rented for two nights. And no air conditioning. A fan, maybe.

And all these tables on the balconies with great views, pretentious lobsters and hefty shrimps - not that. There I just stole a knife.

Happiness is an artifact, a derivative. It "happens". It cannot be reached and held. It generally goes badly with achievement. Vanity goes well, but happiness doesn't.

Here is a happy person, and then he begins to realize him … to reflect. And imperceptibly such a worm creeps out of doubts, haste, daily worries, tasks, schedules - any background. And it seems to be yes, but not the same. Flew up.

For example, development and quality, as meanings, suit me much better. So many things fall into place.

Development is understandable. It is necessary to answer the question: "Can I NOT develop?" Any option will be considered true and conscious. And you should strive to be better than yourself yesterday. Those. compare yourself with yourself. Comparison with others is meaningless, we do not know where they came from and where they are going.

If we talk about quality, it is immediately clear what good services, beautiful things, comfortable interiors, interesting places, delicious food and drinks are for. It gives pleasure, makes life healthier and more varied and, perhaps!, Happier. But not exactly.

External manifestations are not enough for life to be considered fulfilled. How many photos do not take. An internal component is needed. The subtlety of sensations, the fullness of experiences, the depth of immersion, honesty in front of oneself, the quality of people nearby, meditation, in the end. This happens slowly, in small steps. And with a stuck smile will not work.

By filling life with quality, we create the foundation for happiness as well. But it is still impossible to control it. Therefore, it is pointless to strive purposefully.

And here is the story of Edelfrida's eternal happiness:

(source: Manfred Lutz "Go crazy, we treat the wrong people!")

Edelfrida is a Hebephrenic. She's good. Her doctor, the renowned German psychiatrist Manfred Lutz, author of the bestselling book "Go crazy, we are treating the wrong people!", Loves Hebefrenics. From the point of view of Dr. Lutz, not only a psychiatrist, but also a theologian, it is necessary to treat only those who suffer from their mental illness. And gebephrenics are very happy people. True, if hebephrenia, like Edelfrida's, is associated with an incurable brain tumor, it is still better for them to live in a clinic. Hebephrenia is always a great, cheerful and playful mood, even if the hebephrenic has no reasons for joy, from the point of view of others. For example, the bedridden sixty-year-old Edelfrida has a lot of fun when she tells why she cannot have surgery and therefore she will die in six months.

- Bryk - and throw back my hooves! she laughs.

- Doesn't that make you sad? Dr. Lutz asks.

- Why did it happen? What nonsense! What difference does it make to me whether I am alive or dead?

Nothing in the world can upset or upset Edelfrida. She hardly remembers her life, vaguely understands where she is, and the concept of "I" means practically nothing to her. She eats with pleasure, only occasionally lowering the spoon to laugh at the sight of cabbage in the soup or scare a nurse or doctor with a piece of bun.

- Av-av! she says, laughing wildly.

- Is that your dog? the doctor asks.

- What are you, doctor! It's a bun! And with such brains, you are still going to treat me ?! What a scream!

“Strictly speaking,” writes Lutz, “Edelfrida is no longer with us. Her personality is already gone, leaving behind this pure sense of humor in the body of a dying woman."
