In my opinion, this is due to the fact that a woman can be very much afraid of being rejected by a man if she makes a request directly, and it seems much easier for a woman to use manipulations. Moreover, as they write in various sources, this method is very effective.

One of the most dangerous methods of manipulating a woman in relation to a man, in my opinion, is the refusal of a man to have sex. The negative consequences of such actions can very soon affect the relationship itself and hurt the woman herself. Sex for a man is not only an act of love, but also an opportunity to relieve and get rid of inner tension, in addition, this action helps a man to reduce the amount of natural aggression, to throw it out, which is not so easy in other ways. When a woman, in pursuit of some of her goals about changing a man's attitude to herself, deprives him of intimacy, then at the first stage it may seem that a man is really starting to do what a woman wants from him. However, if a man begins to receive tenderness and closeness only if he performs some action (buying a fur coat, necklace, tablet), then soon the relationship moves to the level of natural exchange, in which there are no feelings. "You give me a ticket, I'll give you sex." This is a kind of training for a man, where sex is delicious candy, but you can only get it by completing a certain task. A man has a feeling that he is guilty of something for not receiving intimacy, and this, in most cases, reminds him very much of how his parents punished him in childhood, depriving him of sweets.
