"Alice, I must say, often gave herself very reasonable advice, but rarely followed them. Sometimes she scolded herself so mercilessly that her eyes filled with tears."

L. Carroll

Remember how Alice, falling into the rabbit hole, became more and more less? To get into the little door to Wonderland, she had to drink from a bottle labeled "Drink me!" to become small. And then eat the "Eat Me!" Pie to grow up and take the key from the door.

In the process, she, like a telescope, moved and parted and cried a whole sea of tears, etc.

Psychotherapy works in approximately the same way. In the psychologist's office, we travel from adulthood to childhood and back. We solve the problems of childhood with the resources of an adult and vice versa.

Nowadays, directions that bypass childhood are very popular. And the clients themselves often ask not to immerse themselves in childhood memories. Of course, it is also possible, but time travel has its own meanings and advantages.

And so I felt, why is it?

The first meaning is to create a trusting relationship with a specialist.

What do friends, lovers usually do at the beginning of a relationship? They talk about their life, about their childhood. Create closeness, trust, intimacy.

In a similar way, a trusting relationship develops with a psychologist. You can open yourself more in psychotherapy than in normal relationships. Open up and be accepted.

The second sense - immersion in childhood memories and feelings creates closeness with oneself, with one's inner child.

"Be like children."

Gospel of Matthew 18: 3

I was surprised when, after months of personal therapy, I myself began to remember clearly not only the events of my childhood, but also my feelings and thoughts from the age of three. Infantile amnesia recedes.

Why is this closeness?

Many say that they love themselves and at the same time treat themselves quite severely and demandingly the way their parents treated them. Not all children have the opportunity to be children.

And at 21-28-35 … years old? There is very little room in the soul of an adult for childishness.

Closeness with your inner child allows you to:

- reduce anxiety, remove fears;

- get out of a depressive state, understand your desires;

- achieve the goals and stop procrastinating;

- get out of addiction;

- to gain the meaning of life if you accidentally lost it on the way.

Closeness with others and closeness with oneself allows one to come closer to accepting life, accepting one's aggression, accepting oneself.

"Three transformations of the spirit I call you: how the spirit becomes a camel, a camel as a lion and, finally, a lion becomes a child."

F. Nietzsche
