She stroked her for a long time, pressed her to her chest, and this was a turning point in our work with her.
After that, I put the chess pieces in my collection. To my surprise, every second client always found a place for them in their sandbox. In the next step, I selected a whole shelf for chess pieces. I put up all the chess I have in my house there. The results were a revelation to me. Of all the variety of figures, clients most often chose ordinary Staunton. This is tournament chess used by professional athletes. They are distinguished by: wooden texture, laconic design, stability, comfortable size (the largest figure fits easily in the palm of your hand).
I began to wonder what the magic is in chess, that it attracts completely different people who come with a wide range of problems and questions. And I came to the following conclusion. A huge number of archetypes are represented in chess pieces, which have incredible symbolic meaning. The figure of the King and Queen is arch-symbolic. The elephant, often called the Officer, also has a great many associations. A rook or Tura is as strong and reliable as a stone wall. The knight is also a very controversial figure. And my head no longer hurts, how can I transport the collection of figures to outdoor events. I just take a few sets of chess pieces.
Well, that's not all. At times I use the constellation method in my therapy work. I arrange on the shapes. All figure arrangers know the problem of selecting material for work. I used to use Lego figures and regular stones from a pebble beach. But today chess pieces have become an indispensable aid in constellations. I am using pawns. Pawns of different sizes (usually Staunton 7 for adults, and Staunton 4 for children), I use a two-color chess structure to indicate gender. A huge advantage of chess pieces in the arrangements is their impersonality and stability, and their pleasant wooden texture. From my own experience, the results of using chess pieces exceed all expectations.
