WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING?

Part one

Sometimes in life there comes a period when you do not want to do anything and even the usual things require considerable effort. What to do when you don't feel like doing anything? I regularly hear this request from my clients during psychological consultations and at one time it was relevant to me.

Many of us are familiar with the state when it is necessary to solve certain problems, but we do not want to do this at all and we begin to drag out the process. The number of outstanding cases is growing, but there is no strength to complete them. Gradually, even mundane household chores require significant effort. There is no strength, no motivation, and it seems that there are no special desires either. The world around fades and in life the dominance is taken by a gray color scheme.

As a rule, in this state, you want to watch films, programs, read books, flip through the Facebook feed and absorb something tasty. That is, in the state of “I don’t want to do anything,” we most often do not produce anything, but act as consumers: food, information, etc.

From the experience of my clients and from my own experience, I know that the greatest desire is in such a state that no one touches you. After all, sometimes it seems that there is no strength even to move. You want to be a pearl in the sink: wrap yourself in a soft blanket and lie down comfortably on your favorite sofa, or plunge into a warm bath for a couple of hours.

What is the reason for the emergence of the state "I do not want to do anything"?

Of course, each person will have their own set of reasons, which make up precisely his mosaic called "I do not want to do anything." The most common causes are STRESS or accumulated MICROTRAUMAS, as a rule, they lead to more complex psychological consequences than severe stress alone.

Let's look at an example of how microtrauma is formed.

For example, it is difficult for you to constructively voice what you really want, because you are afraid that you will be offended, or you are worried that you will be misunderstood, or you are very sensitive and difficult to bear even a hint of tension, therefore in every possible way you avoid situations where it is necessary to clarify the relationship.

And if you imagine that your loved ones or colleagues are not inclined to reckon with your desires or needs. Then you need:

- every time to declare your needs and defend your boundaries, which leads to internal tension, because it is very difficult for you, because you still do not know how to cope with this tension;

- either step on oneself and keep silent, which also leads to strong internal tension.

Accordingly, in such situations, you will regularly feel strong internal pressure, that is, microtraumas will accumulate day after day. It is like a wound that cannot heal, because it is not treated and, in addition, is constantly scratched, respectively, it bleeds and aches. This condition is exhausting.

What to do with all this?

You will learn about this in the second part of the article "WHAT TO DO WHEN YOU DO NOT WANT TO DO ANYTHING?"
