At times, clients perceive video-based therapy (or "") not only as a full-fledged equivalent of face-to-face work, but also as more convenient and preferable, in which it is possible to work even from the phone from the car on the way to work. It happens that, being in the same city with the therapist and not having physical limitations, the client asks to work with him precisely through video communication.
But it is quite obvious that this type of work differs from a face-to-face meeting: the client and therapist do not see each other as a whole, the picture is distorted by camera settings and screen parameters; speech, voice and intonation are distorted by microphones, headphones and communication quality; the physical possibility of sharing objects and physical interaction as such disappears.
It is important to remember that the more the difference from the face-to-face meeting, the less the effect and benefit of the work will be. The more the place in which the client calls up with the therapist differs from the therapist's office, the less the therapist's "picture" on the screen, the worse it is heard, the more physical strength (holding the tablet in his hands) and moral strength (asking through a word) the client spends on securing a meeting, the less he gets. After all, the money for the meeting will still be paid, but there will be no benefit or result.
Unfortunately, the therapist is not able to control the conditions on the client's side, and he can only trust that the client will take care of himself. Therefore, when starting to work via video communication, it would be good for each client to know and take into account these features.
Here's a simple one that will greatly increase the effectiveness of your Skype therapy.
During video therapy, ensure that:
- the quality of the Internet was very good (good or excellent picture and sound quality, no freezes in the picture / sound, no delays in movements / sound, the picture does not split into pixels and does not blur);
- work from a stationary computer or a large laptop (the larger the screen, and therefore the picture that you see, the more effective);
- try to be seen on the screen as much as possible (at least up to your chest, but better at least up to your waist, along with your hands);
- the computer / laptop should stand on a solid, stable support, at a comfortable height and distance from you (at any time you may need to perform some actions with your hands or body)
- use a headset, headphones and a microphone (all of the above should be convenient for you);

Provide yourself a closed space that no one will be able to enter during the entire meeting and for some time after, if you need to (this also means that there will be no knocking or shouting at the door);
- you should be comfortable and comfortable to sit (your body should not become numb and you should be able to change your posture or perform some simple exercises);
- take care of handkerchiefs, a blanket, tea and other things that may be needed in the process (you will never guess what and when you may need it, but it will be unpleasant for you if you have to leave in the middle of the process to look for a handkerchief or pour a glass of water).
Nevertheless, if possible, prefer to work live: nothing will ever replace a face-to-face meeting.
