The function of the media, like any business in an unconscious society, is to focus on enrichment at any cost.

Take a look at the individuals: surviving day in and day out, we wander to work with the intention of providing a minimum level of physical comfort. Rare birds have an idea on their minds to develop the needs of the heart. Until every citizen is affirmed in the level of physical security, talking about psychotherapy, exercising in self-development and being inspired by his own greatness - all these actions are outside the everyday reality of most people.

Despite the rapid development of critical thinking, the prevailing number of people continue to perceive the world in black and white. At the level where most of us are in the Slavic space today, this is mainly from the position: "It is dangerous for me - it is safe for me".

The absence of a relatively conscious, intelligent environment in everyday life is the reason for black and white perception. Not everyone lives in Moscow or Kiev. Few, in comparison with the general mass of people, can afford to expand the horizons of perception by going to look overseas or practicing asanas in their free time.

Black and white thinking is the main cause of extremes. In order for other colors to appear in the spectrum of thinking, a quality education is necessary. It's not only about a comprehensively presented story, physics practically applicable to life, and the ability to fill a bill for hot water. If each school introduces courses on emotional literacy, understanding of oneself and the mechanisms of the ego; if we willingly take responsibility for thinking with our own heads, the “haves of the top” will no longer be able to influence us by pressing the lever of simple human fear.

The higher the level of awareness of a person, the more difficult it is to influence him from the outside

Take a look: what emotions do you get when you watch the news? Why are you deliberately subjecting yourself to this torture? To find out what's going on in the world? Whatever it is! The desire to anticipate and protect against negative influences is the main reason. The need for protection from potential threats is “spelled out” in the program of each of us. Fear is an important defense mechanism: only the button for activating this mechanism is almost erased and now and then it gets jammed from the load!

The body's charge is spent with increased strength if a person without interruption is in constant readiness to defend itself. Instead of relaxing, as we think it is, while watching TV, we only additionally strain and fuel this state of stress.

Let's take a look at how TV business works to understand why the effect on the psyche is so devastating.

As the American public figure Noam Chomsky has well put it, the main task of any TV channel is to attract as many views as possible.

When I was little, I could not understand: how can a TV channel or program make money from the fact that I turn on the TV at a certain time? Noam Chomsky explains: channels are growing thanks to advertising. When we "stick" to the TV, the TV channel receives income not from the very fact that we are watching the TV show, but from those advertisers who wedge advertising (obviously or not obvious) into this TV show and the intervals between it.

A negligible amount of media revenue comes from the sale of newspapers and magazines. The overwhelming amount of money comes from advertisers. A chain is being built: advertisers strive to show us their ads, targeting as many "eyes" and "ears" as possible. Since “classic” media such as radio and television still fill the lives of most of us on a daily basis, advertisers are willing to invest in TV and radio stations. Now social networks, including YouTube, have joined such means of transmitting information.

The question arises: is the system healthy, the purpose of which is to hook as many people as possible in order to more effectively sell them a service? And most importantly: is it possible to trust the source of information, the purpose of which is to deliver not the information that increases the level of awareness and helps a person become happier, but the one that pulls our lever of fear, appealing to the animal's fear of a person for his life and prompting us to search protection to absorb information that is deliberately built on the need to hook us?

In an attempt to express the anger that is based on helplessness in front of the system, it is popular to blame journalists. They say that it is they - reporters and correspondents - within the framework of their work, they create stories that whip up mass psychosis. In my opinion, this approach is no more justified than an attempt to blame the McDonald's cashier for the growing percentage of obesity among people. Journalists are people just like you and me. They are driven by survival. The more resonant the materials created by a journalist, the more prestigious is his place on the career ladder. Prestige equals money. Equals survival.

You should not take up arms against journalists, accusing them of trying to make money on the hype. As Neil Donald Walsh pointed out in Conversations with God. Book 2 ", discussing the disorder in the medical system:" No single physician can be blamed individually, but it is beneficial for all doctors."

It will be more effective if you pay attention to how a dysfunctional way of surviving at the expense of the comfort of others is present in your life. Where are you stamping on your heads? And where are you frankly walking over corpses? In which area of your life does double standards rule?

It may be something small, imperceptible at first glance. For example, when you catch a friend for not paying enough attention to you, find that during a conversation with this very friend you are constantly checking the phone. But you can, you are sure. At work, after all, they can write! And the responsible specialist should always be in touch! Why didn't you provide such an excuse to your friend?

In order to maintain information hygiene, you need to work on your own awareness. There is little you can achieve by pointing your finger at your neighbor. What's stopping you by yourself or by yourself take responsibility for shaping your own life? It is true that we live in a particular environment that shapes our values and preferences. Just remember, as it was said in the famous saying: if you do not like the situation in which you are, you are not a tree - you can always get up and leave!

Returning to ourselves the freedom of choice, accepting this freedom and acting on it, with the awareness and acceptance of all consequences as created by ourselves is the greatest gift that we can make to ourselves in the era of information manipulation. Don't let it be taken away from you voluntarily!
