"Personalities are like impressionist paintings, at a distance each person is a whole, painted in separate strokes, but upon close examination, each person amazes with a complex combination of moods, motives, perception and his cognitive abilities." Theodore Millon

Who are you Mr. Theodore Millon?

You burst into my life bright and exciting! Having awakened in me a keen interest and genuine scientific passion, you made me want to know as much as possible about you!

My gratitude to you is very great, although now I am deprived of the opportunity to express it to you personally, but I definitely want to do it now and in this way.

You conquered me, Mr. Millon, by your manner of expressing your thoughts, views on the individuality of a person, diagnostic techniques, yours, and only yours, humor, an optimistic approach to life, amazing life experiences, and I join the gentle, loving reviews of your children and colleagues about you!

An interesting story, I have been in psychology for a long time, I have a good intellectual and professional stock of knowledge, I have a rich therapeutic and life experience. I received an excellent professional education, but you, Theodore Millon, appeared in my life only a year ago, that Theodore Millon, Ph. D., a leading theorist in the field of personality psychology, who is also called the "grandfather" of personality theory.

You who have written over 80 articles and 30 books in the field of psychology and psychopathology.

You who, at the age of 26, became the head of the Allentown State Hospital.

You who received his Ph. D. from the University of Kentucky in 1954 on Authoritarian Personalities.

You who were the founder and editor-in-chief of the Journal of Personality Disorders.

You who were the first inaugural president of the International Society for the Study of Personality Disorders.

You who have been honorary professor at Harvard Medical School, the University of Miami, and the University of Illinois.

You who initiated and led the DSM-III, DSM-IV revision working groups.

You who, with the support of colleagues and the Pearson Company (PEARSON), created the Institute for Advanced Study in Personology and Psychopathology.

You who have been honored with three top honors in psychology: the American Psychological Association (APA) Award for Outstanding Contribution to Applied Psychological Science, the American Psychological Foundation (APF) Gold Medal for Achievement in Applied Research, and the 2000 President of the United States Commendation.

So why did the acquaintance happen only now? I am tormented by this question.

In my life I am a very happy person. I have had wonderful teachers on my path in life - Svetlana Solovieva, Dmitry Leontiev, Igor Kadyrov, Patrick Casement, Gilbert Diatkin, Paolo Fonda, Gary Goldsmith, Otto Kernberg), Antonius Stufkens, Martin Seligman, Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi. And, of course, I learned from the works of many psychologists and psychoanalysts, who have become classics, and the works of Sigmund Freud occupy a special place among them.

Many are familiar with the works of Freud, or at least have heard of them. His works were published in many countries, translated into dozens of languages of the world. And, here, the name of Theodore Millon, as before, is known only to a narrow circle of psychologists, at least in our country. I want to correct this injustice, at least in the first approximation.

Mr. Theodore Millon, your textbooks are included in the required university and college tuition for psychology, psychiatric and social students in the United States and Latin America. Your MCMI test is the second most used in the world in diagnosing personality and defining psychopathology. You have passed an interesting life, rich in events and meetings with people. I will try to introduce you to Russian specialists working in personality psychology and psychologists, to present you as I saw you, with that warm and grateful feeling that I experienced when meeting you.

Once again, I confess to you my admiration and devotion. I only got to know you a year ago, but did not miss this opportunity and the chance given to me by chance. I did not miss the most important thing that influenced me so much and helped me to get to know myself better.

By our next meeting with you, my readers, I would like to present a biography of Theodore Millon, written by himself, but translated and presented in my presentation. Have a nice day!
