After school or after several years of work, the question arises: did I choose the right profession? Do I like the business I am doing? Maybe there is some kind of ideal activity that will bring me pleasure and income?

Let's take a quick look at what influences our INTERNAL career choices.

(1) extended family

Family history sets the "tone" even if we are 30: what professions did my family choose? How did you approach the choice of a profession? What level of education (secondary / tertiary / academic) was considered acceptable? How were the professions chosen: once for the whole life, or was it customary for us to change professions during the life? Were there "forbidden professions"? Choosing a profession not from the "system", we must be ready to defend our decision, even with family aggression (open or hidden)

(2) environment

What professions / universities does our environment choose? how do those around me develop their careers? What is acceptable? Which paths are not supported, and if I choose them, I will face isolation?

(3) abilities

These are the areas where I am showing the most progress than the average people we started out with. For example, I decided to learn Chinese. Everyone was on the same level at the beginning of the year, after six months I can already speak in simple sentences, and on average, the group is still learning the alphabet. Maybe I don't like Chinese madly, but I have an ability for it.

(4) inclinations

This is what you love - an area of hobby that gives pleasure, makes you switch and enjoy the process. Where is the catch? Often the areas that we like are not areas where we are willing to overcome obstacles, build career ladders and work on quality. The process is more important than the result. People who choose a profession based only on inclinations do not achieve outstanding results in it, because there will be those who in this area may be without inclinations, but with abilities

(5) the level of ambition in life

It is often silent about it, but it is important. What is good for you to live? How often to go to rest? What is the salary (just do not name the number of several million, name the real need that you feel and can touch). Sometimes the "normal standard of living" is 100,000 rubles a month, sometimes 800,000, sometimes more than 1 million rubles. The level of aspirations already determines which professions do not offer the desired level.

(6) life plans

What profession you can and should choose depends on when you are planning a family, children or moving to another city or even a country. It's strange to go to study to become a doctor if your goal is to have children in the next couple of years. Either you will not finish your studies and you will have to "restore" knowledge again later, or you will finish your studies, but the family goal will be pushed back. What is the best life choice for you personally - your decision

(7) the material level of the family at the moment

This is also important. Especially for schoolchildren. There are a number of specialties that require expensive and lengthy training. Even if this is a lifelong dream, you can go to it your own way, breaking it down into several stages and receiving at the first stage some kind of specialty that will allow you to save money for the next stage of education. Of course, there are various funds and scholarships - but I added this point, because it cannot be ignored when choosing a university or profession.

So, after analyzing and taking into account all 7 points, it may turn out that there is no ideal profession, and each of your options has its own pros and cons. Actually, it is the same in life - there is no black and white, there are shades of color. First, at the sight of this picture, sadness and sadness arise, and then you can already make a conscious PSYCHOLOGICAL choice of which path is yours personally and which path you will take. Each has its own unique path.

I briefly described what a psychologist can discuss in meetings to help with choosing a profession.

Any choice is a decision based on knowledge and understanding of yourself, your needs, your desires.
