Millennials are called "the generation of psychotherapy" and this generation is the generation whose representatives are more often than others alone. 25% of US millennials have no friends, 27% have no close friends. Among American youth, 31% believe that making friends is difficult, 53% of them are hampered by shyness, 26% do not find common interests with new acquaintances. The connection between these two statements can be pondered.

Why is the generation of singles choosing psychotherapy? First of all, this is due to the fact that psychotherapy for millennials is one of the means of taking care of oneself, in the same list yoga, meditation, retreats, and personal growth trainings. But there are other reasons as well.

On the one hand, the Millennials' love of psychotherapy is positive - mental disorders are no longer stigmatized, mental treatment has come to be perceived as the same norm as body treatment. On the other hand, it is believed that millennials tend to expect quick results from psychotherapy, but what generation does not like such expectations?

Millennials are a generation of loners, it is often associated with the fact that this generation lives in virtual reality more than the previous ones, that these people have simply forgotten how to communicate. Perhaps there is some truth in this statement, since the Internet, laptop and smartphones are an excellent prosthesis that allows you to live with the least number of live contacts, but such avoidance is more a consequence than a reason, because not all millennials are hermits on the network.

Rather, symptomatic is the fear of loneliness of those who speak of the millennial generation as defective in comparison with the previous ones. After all, loneliness in itself is not a problem.

Loneliness is about different things every time, for someone it is a normally experienced part of life, for others it is the fear of being abandoned, for someone, under the fear of loneliness, a completely unexpected meaning can be hidden.

It has long been noted in psychoanalysis that suffering is always different from the truth of this suffering. The clients themselves know that although their suffering is real, there has been a shift in him. There is a hidden meaning in suffering and psychoanalysis investigates it.

For more than a century, psychoanalysts have been approached by people asking who they are and how they became who they are and why do they suffer from it? Clients intuitively or consciously understand that answering these questions can transform their being. Millennials are more likely than others to be interested in the true about themselves, which is probably why millennials are the generation that is more involved in psychoanalysis and psychotherapy than others.
