The manifestation of psychological difficulties in children is very diverse, but they have their own pattern and logic. The child's psyche speaks the language that is available to her.

Until about three years old, this is body language. And hyperexcitability, skin diseases, digestive disorders, frequent SARS can be manifestations of mental stress. There is no other way for early childhood.

At 4-7 years old, the language of movements appears, since there is an active development of motor skills and dexterity. And through tics, stuttering, refusal to speak and behavior can manifest what in infancy "sounded" through the body.

At 5-10 years old, the language of emotions is more pronounced - and fears come to the fore.

At the same time, the child develops speech and the ability to speak about what he needs in the language of words. If he manages to be heard, then this method is formed as another, more mature ability to cope with the situation. For example, satisfy needs by saying so.

In the case of disobedience and innuendo, the child's unmet needs are overgrown with "caps". And a psychosomatic symptom that occurs at school age (instead of more mature ways of reacting) can be the lid that allows it to be done in such a roundabout, more expensive way for the body. In my opinion, the most expensive. When there is no way to express either through words, or through emotions, or through behavior. When a symptom becomes the only way to make yourself known.

In my practice, each child had his own unique story and his own reason to use just such a language in dialogue with others.

But there are general guidelines for families where children have psychosomatic symptoms.

1. A good way to form more mature strategies is through dialogue. For example, when a child tells you something, just listen to hear (not answer or appreciate). When finished, repeat in your own words how you understood it. And clarify if this is so? This is how a dialogue appears and there is an articulation and listening.

2. Another way to express an experience is to respond to emotions. You can organize a "cup of anger" where you can shout all the curses and offensive words. You can find a whipping item (a pillow, for example). Stomp your feet, rip paper - anything that in a socially acceptable way allows you to express emotions through action. Don't suppress your feelings of sadness. embarrassment, fear - help to live them.

3. More spontaneous creativity and physical activity. Let the child be a space in which he is not controlled or evaluated. Drawing, craft. playing, singing - everything. anything. The main rule is the absence of an assessment, even a positive one. Process for the sake of process. Joint outdoor games.

These methods are effective in the treatment of psychosomatic disorders. and in the prevention of their appearance.
