Have there been situations in your life when you set goals for yourself, but for some reason they were not achieved or were partially achieved, not in the way you wanted? If you have come across this, then this article will undoubtedly be useful to you. So, let's talk about how to set goals correctly so that they are achieved.

At the moment, I consider myself quite effective in planning and achieving goals. To be honest, about 90% of my goals are always achieved. Of course, this was not always the case, I learned this while attending the Academy of Entrepreneurs, and there was a good emphasis on this topic. To set and achieve my goals, I use a fairly simple, well-known system SMART and ENEC. I use them together, tk. one system is missing one part, and the other is missing a second part.

So let's look at what the systems are and what their abbreviations stand for. ENEC is a Russian abbreviation, SMART is an English letter. Let's start with the SMART system:

S - specific, specific: means what exactly you, specifically you want to achieve. It can be finances, relationships, quality of relationships, more finances, and so on.

M - measurable, measurable: in which units your goal will be measured and relative to what. For example: if your goal is to increase income by 50%, then by 50% relative to what: relative to income or profit. This is also important to clarify, because if you do not clarify this point for yourself, you can come to the conclusion that the income figure increases, but costs will also increase with it. Or for example: you want to improve the quality of relationships, it is also better to do this in numbers. Increase leisure, that is, spending time together twice, for example: not only see each other on Sundays, but also go somewhere together on a weekday. That is, the goal must be measured so that it can be seen how much it has been achieved by you.

A - Achievable, achievable: it is very important to understand how you will achieve the goal. For example, if you decide to double your income, how can you do it? Perhaps you will work twice as much, or if this is a business, you will buy some resources half the price, or you will reduce your staff, or you will find some other option. If, for example, you want to improve the quality of relations, see each other more often, then at the expense of which you will take this time for two. Give children to grandmothers or read less, or there is an opportunity to devote less time to work, and so on.

R - realistic, how realistic your goal is. Here I like to compare, I can even say not to compare, but to apply my goal to my main value in life. When do you know what is most important to you in life? You apply a goal to the main goal, and see if they harmonize, will this goal help you achieve the main goal of your whole life? For example, you want to double the amount of time spent with your loved one by reducing the hours for self-development, and self-development is the main value of your life, but will this goal, this joint leisure really bring you real pleasure? Or will you feel tense, as if you have been hurt in some way? Or do you want to increase income by increasing the number of clients, are you ready to devote more time to this, can you work with high quality, and so on? Will not some other part of your life be hurt?

T - time-bound, this is a time limit: for how long do you want to come to this goal, to this result. It should be completely delineated and specific.

Further, the Russian version of the ENEC.

K is specific, that is, your goal should be quite specific. This is the criterion that is present in the SMART system, in points S and M - what exactly do you want and in what units your goal is measured. That is, your goal should be understandable even to a stranger and it is quite clearly visible in which case the results have been achieved or not.

O - touch. This is about visualization. You need to imagine a little: what you will feel, see what you will hear - what your life will be like when you reach this goal. If you feel that “yes” is mine, it really matters to me, then this is your goal.

N - what is not in the English version is independence. Specifically, this goal should not depend on other people. There can be no such thing as, for example: “I’ll give the designer a project to work, but I don’t know if he has time to complete it or not”. In this case, you cannot be responsible for the goal - to complete the project. Here, you are dependent on another person and can no longer be fully responsible for the result. That is, the goal should be independent and this is also one of the points for which I love this concept.

E - environmentally friendly. The goal should be consistent with your values, beliefs. Do not contradict the law, and what you feel internally. For example: to achieve a doubling of income by reducing staff. But, you are attached to this state, every person in this state is dear to you. And if you do achieve your goals, the goal will no longer be environmentally friendly, because the soul is rather unpleasant.

Well, and C is value - this goal should be valuable to you. Why is it important for you to get this? What exactly is in this purpose for your soul? If you have several answers to the question: why is this goal important, then this goal is more or less yours.

It is also important, especially at first, to share your goals with a friend, with someone close, with a person you trust. So that he sees how clear, realistic your goal is. Especially when it comes to being realistic, some people find it difficult to follow the principle of reality. It is also good if a friend will determine how clear your goal and the achievement of the result are, whether it is clear to him by what criteria you have achieved the goal or not. If a friend from the outside sees that everything is working out, then most likely your goal is excellent.

And in order to develop a habit: to set goals correctly. Try to set at least three goals for the coming week, for example: Sunday night. You also need to write three main goals for the next week. Find those three goals that can move you well towards your main dream in life? And starting on Monday, you need to start working on these goals. And so every week.

Then, in the end, you will train yourself to set goals, and this gives a lot of energy when you realize that you set a goal and were able to achieve it, set it again and achieved it again. But, it can only work if your goals are realistic. If you set unrealistic goals, then naturally you will not achieve it, and you will worsen your condition.

I would also like to say that it is important when you ask a friend or loved one to look at your goals and assess their realism. Do not forget about the human factor - human envy, jealousy, and so on. It happens that a person simply underestimated your abilities. For example, you know how much you can accomplish in a day, a week. But from the outside, if you tell someone, a person may simply not believe it, say: “no, it’s not really so much to do”. Therefore, remember that the last word: whether you fulfill this goal or not, is it realistic or not, in the first place, is yours.

Listen to what a friend says, but don't let it stop you, don't stop your energy, if you really want this goal, then achieve it and make efforts. If you really want to, then this will be a strong motivator, and you will find twice as much strength and energy, regardless of what they know about you. Even if everyone around you may think that you are lazy, but if you really want something, then laziness will take off. This often happens.
