Every day, when faced with someone's new story, I see how often dissatisfaction with my life is associated with the fear of changing something in it. After all, to change means to make a decision, to choose something from something, to hope for something, and to refuse something, but in any case - to face the unknown. It would be possible, of course, now to start talking about the thrill and feeling of freedom brings, taking responsibility for your decisions, but … But at this moment, there is usually no feeling of freedom, in fact, on the contrary, and arms and legs are held down by fear. Fear of uncertainty about how it will be, what will happen. After all, what could be worse than the dragon and the unknown?

No, though! Well, what a dragon ?! Cut off three heads and victory! And the unknown … The unknown, it is worse! It's not clear whose heads you need to chop off? Where are they? How many are there? And will it come out? And if it does, when?

And here the assistant, the old woman Uncertainty, usually joins the dangerous Unknown and quietly whispers:

- Where are you going? What for? So, what is next? Yes, nothing will come of it, where are you going?

And that's it! Everything remains in place, dissatisfaction continues to swallow life, a feeling of missed years, unfulfilled dreams and the collapse of hopes.

And I remember a joke:

“The knight's road lay through the desert, and his path was long and tiring. On the way, he lost his armor and even his horse. Only his sword was preserved.

The knight was exhausted, among other things, by hunger and thirst.

Then he saw a pond in the distance and with his last strength, barely keeping his feet, he began to move towards the water.

Coming closer, the knight saw that a monster was sitting at the very shore - a three-headed dragon. The thirst was so strong that the knight with the last of his strength grabbed the sword and attacked the dragon.

Not a day he fought, not two, he chopped off two heads of the beast. On the third day, a wounded dragon fell to the ground, and a dying knight fell next to him, unable to further fight the monster.

And then the exhausted, bloody dragon asked:

- Man, why did you stick to me, what did you want?

- I was dying of thirst, I wanted a sip of water.

- So you would have drunk, who was stopping you …?"

It would seem, what was the purpose of fighting an unknown beast? And what was needed in order for the unknown to cease to be or seem so dangerous?

It would be enough:

  • learn about her, as much as possible and in more detail, so to speak, collect a detailed dossier.
  • Knowing a lot about her already: how many heads to cut, where they are located, it would not be superfluous to observe her. What is she like? How and what can you meet? Is her habitat aggressive?
  • And so, understanding all the features of what was until recently unknown, roughly assessing what kind of contact could be. What is needed for him: sociability and flexibility or assertiveness and aggressiveness, tolerance or quick steps, it will become quite safe to approach, because the unknown is no longer there, it has dissipated, like the fear that accompanies it.

It also happens in those stories of people who are afraid to change something in their lives. Either they look at and study their dragons from all sides, and sometimes these dragons do turn out to be very friendly animals that are just waiting to be tamed, or people continue to fight with something incomprehensible to the very end, without having experienced the taste feeling of freedom in your life.
