Continuing the project “Rules of Life”, I suggest you consider rule 8 out of 64, which reads as follows: “Distribute”. I want to remind you that if you follow these rules in your life, then within two years, you can improve your life in half. What does it mean to improve? Double your income and increase your vacation time, which is also important.

The secret to sustained success is taking the first step. And the secret to the first step is to break a large task into many small ones, taking them step by step. The ability to correctly break down a large task into smaller ones is a very useful and important skill that should be trained every day, starting with elementary, simple everyday questions.

I do this, first of all in the evening I define tasks for tomorrow. For example, it's a trivial thing to clean the apartment. I divide it into smaller tasks, such as: washing the dishes, washing the laundry, hanging the laundry, collecting the laundry, vacuuming the carpet, etc. Having written myself a detailed plan in the evening, I get up in the morning with a clear understanding of what I have to do today.

Thus, completing all the small tasks, I eventually complete the main, large task. And what is important, in this way, in everyday, household chores, you train your skill to correctly distribute and divide tasks.

What is the use of this approach to solving the problem? If we continue my example with cleaning, then the task of cleaning the entire apartment may not always be feasible, for example, it may turn out that I do not have the strength to complete all the tasks, but I know that I have completed this, this and this business. And in this I am already doing well. I've done half of the work today - and that's good. When I have only one, but a huge task stands, I cannot tick myself, I have not completed it completely, which means there is no satisfaction with myself. You seem to have tried, worked, but it seems that the day was wasted, ineffective. Therefore, this is another positive point, the ability to correctly break the goal into smaller tasks.

But what about goals you are new to doing? How to divide a task into smaller tasks if you are not yet strong in this area, for example, you decided to open your own business. I want to offer you several options for how to be in this case.

  1. So, first - take advice. Consult with those who have already walked this path, who have done something similar to what you are about to do. Ask, question: what difficulties did you encounter, where did you start, how did you continue, how did you end up, and so on.
  2. The second option is to look for books, look for some booklets, read articles on the Internet. Any printed information that will share with you the experience of those who have already gone this way. How did they start, what difficulties they faced, what tasks they set for themselves, etc.
  3. The third point seems to me the most difficult. But, perhaps, for someone it will be the other way around. Imagine that you have already achieved what you dream of. Now try to imagine: what do you want, what tasks you set yourself. And from this point, when you already have everything, you look back and watch your actions: what did you have to do to achieve this, what was the last action, what was the penultimate action, what was the action before, and so on. Thus, you can find the answers in yourself and understand what to do next.

The most important thing is to keep looking, keep asking, keep this question in mind, sometimes the answer comes very unexpectedly. Do not leave your plan until it is realistic and understandable enough to carry it out.

Answer yourself clearly and understandably to all the questions that appear in your head. What do you need to do? What skills or knowledge will you need to acquire? How much money will you need to save up or acquire, take it somewhere? If you take it somewhere, from whom? What other resources do you need: people, connections, knowledge? What habits and skills will you need to implement in your life to get what you want in the end?

Some questions may remain open for a long time. For example, where or from whom to get the money? How much do you need to save, is there any way to ask someone as a last resort?

Speaking of finances, I would like to recommend a good book called The Richest Man in Babylon. This is the kind of book that helps you get some financial security. It gives one very practical and at the same time elementary advice: save 10% of the profit every month. 10% you don't feel like they are, but in the end, you have an airbag organized.

The main thing is not to rush, you should not demand that everything be fast today, all at once. Little by little, gradually, over time, everything will happen. You can also keep in mind the question: who to get the money from? Because, as a rule, sooner or later, life throws up some right person, and you turn out to be useful to each other.

And the last two tips:

  1. Make yourself mental maps - on a large piece of paper, draw your main goal in the middle, in the form of a circle. And from it there are offshoots, tasks that must be completed in order to achieve this goal. It is even possible for the main circle to be surrounded by more circles with tasks, from which even smaller tasks will come. For example, if the main goal is “to write a book,” then the arrows will go from this main goal to smaller tasks: choose a topic, choose a cover, choose that, choose that, and so on. And the task of “choosing a cover” leads to smaller tasks: finding a designer, consulting about a design, choosing several designs, etc. Thus, you will draw up your mental map, which now needs to be hung on the wall in order to see every day.
  2. Next, you need to break down these tasks by day or, if the tasks are laborious enough, distribute them by week. Be sure to define for yourself: such and such a task - it must be completed at such and such a time. Because by learning how to plan your life, you will provide yourself with tremendous support for your future life, and especially when it comes to business.

Perform the most difficult tasks first, because leaving the most difficult task for you for last, it will take a huge amount of energy from you for resistance. And then your tasks that are not of primary importance will turn out worse, and tasks of primary importance may generally remain unfulfilled. Because you simply may not have enough strength for the last, most difficult task, they will go to less important matters.

It is also important to understand that plans need to be made in the evening. Because at night, while we are sleeping, our brain subconsciously ponders how to make the conceived plan as quickly, efficiently and beneficially as possible for you. And it actually works.
