The following parable caught my eye here:
“One rich man, taking a moment between business, was walking along the seashore. And he was shocked to see that some fisherman was lying near the boat and smoking a pipe.
- Why don't you fish? the rich man asked.
“I've caught enough for today.
“Why don’t you catch even more?”
- What will I do with the extra fish?
- You will earn more money. You can buy yourself a boat motor to sail further out to sea and catch even more fish. Then you can buy yourself a nylon net, catch more fish, make more money. Then you will have the opportunity to buy two boats … and even a whole armada of boats. You will become as rich as I am.
- What's next?
- Then you can just lie on the seashore and really enjoy life.
"What do you think I'm doing now?"
Perhaps some of you have read it before, it is quite popular, as it turned out!
What thoughts and thoughts do you have as you read this parable? What conclusions does it lead to? That money is not happiness? And even more so, not in their number? Happy is the one who "cares" less about money?
It is believed that wealth is not in the amount of money, but in their sufficiency. That is, wealth is the difference between income and expenses, and not the amount of income as such. That is, a person who receives a salary of 30,000 rubles, and spends half of this amount, and saves half, is richer than a person who earns, for example, 200,000 rubles, but spends all of this amount. How do you think?
It turns out that the rich is not the one who has a lot of money, but who has enough of it. But the volume, the level of this very "sufficiency" is individual for each person. Someone will feel comfortable resting in the summer at a dacha in the Moscow region, while others will feel good and pleasant in the Seychelles. This is determined by the inner scope of the person. Not even greed. And on a personal scale.
That is, external comfort, the amount of money, the amount of opportunities and amenities, improvement is a consequence of the internal scale of a person. Ambition is not the same as this scale. This scale is not measured by intelligence, abilities, talents.
What is the scale - so is the level of claims to life. This is also the standard of living. And if the scale coincides with the satisfied claims, then the person is undoubtedly rich.
In the parable, they brought a conversation between a rich man and a fisherman and showed that there seemed to be no difference. Both one and the other are satisfied with their lives, only the fisherman allegedly wins, because he did not perform all those unthinkable actions that the rich man did not think over the schemes, did not waste energy, did not make unnecessary body movements. And the result is the same. The question that follows from the parable is why, then, was this stupid rich man fussing about?
He fussed and tried, because his scale is different. Not like a fisherman. Living in a hut is cramped for him. Sending your children to public schools instead of private ones is shortsightedness; bringing fish for dinner instead of going out to a restaurant is redneck. What is the scale of the person himself, he measures his loved ones with such a scale.
The rich man could not help doing everything that he recommended to the fisherman, because in the life in which the fisherman is comfortable, he, the rich man, is stuffy, cramped, constrained, there is little space, there is no scope, there is nowhere to turn around.
And they will not understand each other. The rich man is amazed, how can you live in this poor peasant? And the fisherman laughs at the ambitions of the rich man, and why, pray tell, all these yachts-airplanes? If you can return to your hut in the evening, your wife will fry the fish, you can sleep well and calmly, the house is warm. What else is needed?
So happiness is not in money and not in their quantity. In fact, comparing categories such as happiness and money is generally not correct, IMHO. But the person whose inner scale coincides with the external resources that he possesses will be comfortable, easy and harmonious. It's just that when it's comfortable and easy to build happiness, it's easier. Just when simple:))
