Let's try to understand the current situation. What is the plot of the whole world? Is it true that this has never happened? And what role does my "I" play in this scenario?
Over the entire period of evolution, humanity has repeatedly faced pandemics. After several outbreaks of influenza viruses - only Hong Kong in 1968 claimed more than a million lives - AIDS, SARS and several SARS epidemics, it seemed: previous experience helped to develop ways and skills to cope with such situations. However, the current infection control measures look like something new, as if this has never happened. And that's okay, because past pandemics are strikingly different from today's scenarios.
The collapse of illusions
In principle, self-isolation and wearing a mask are quite common recommendations for a sick person with any viral infection. But tough isolation with a ban on free movement, avoidance of contact, social distance, widespread sanitation - this was the last time at the end of the 19th century, during the plague. Obviously, the confusion caused by the unprecedented infectiousness of the rapid spread of covid has led to inadequate conclusions and decisions. And this, in turn, gave rise to and maintains an almost animal horror in us, because there is still no clear way to treat a new coronavirus infection. Our high-tech society did not cope with this challenge, fell into hysterics and lost the ability to think reasonably. And the panic is caused not so much by the virus itself as by the collision with the collapse of its own omnipotence, the idea of which has been actively cultivated in recent decades. Suddenly it became clear that a person, despite the powerful technological development, is weak and vulnerable in the same way as a hundred, two hundred years ago. The virus hit the most sore spot - our narcissism.
There is an obvious connection between how an organism attacked by a covid behaves, and what happens on a planetary scale. The destruction of socio-cultural, economic, political systems in the world is analogous to the imbalance of the physiological and mental systems of a human being. These are not parallel processes in two different formations, this is the development of a single whole. It is important to understand how each individual person who finds himself in this scenario feels, what happens to the organization of our āIā. Without a doubt, it was under the powerful influence of the threat to physical and mental health. Isolation, distancing, control of contacts and live communication, what impact do these innovations have on us?
Dangerous prevention
Doctors warn that isolation and sterility is a direct path to the loss of herd immunity, accumulated over the entire evolution of man. The same danger is fraught with distancing and a ban on live communication - this is a decrease in empathy and emotional intelligence. The fact is that a person is a social being, therefore, for normal mental development, we need the interaction of all senses: visual, auditory, olfactory, tactile, gustatory and kinesthetic. Through these basic feelings, the spectrum of which is actually much wider, we form the ability to perceive both the world around us and ourselves.
Distancing is, in fact, an attack on connections, deformation of the socio-cultural experience of human-human interaction, on the individual and collective psycho-emotional interaction formed in the process of evolution. This is the exclusion of bodily contact and the gradual erasure of everything that forms humanity in us - the ability to feel the other, respond with emotion to emotion, cognize the other through ourselves and vice versa.
Give positive thinking
A powerful stream of negative news, like a river overflowing its banks, carries a huge amount of information garbage, filling our consciousness and leaving not even a hint of space for feeling our own "I". And, given the length of this period, we lose the joy of feeling ourselves, our desires, thoughts, emotions, our physicality, the ability to be ourselves. For a contemporary, normal experiences become a luxury. Especially now, when the boundaries of "I" are being attacked and forcibly suppressed. In essence, the situation has already become a biosocial war. It is natural that all the forces of our "I" are thrown into the containment of fear, anxiety, and preservation of life.
However, based on the laws of physics, a change in one element can change the entire system. Therefore, it is important to consciously relate to your psychosomatic well-being, to carefully restore the lost connections with your own mental attunements and with your body. It is equally important to know that, while experiencing an actual event, we automatically fall into the traps of repressed traumas and react with a vengeance - through past negative experiences. This is why everyone reacts differently to certain traumatic events.
