A lot of useful articles, books and other materials have been written about depression, apathy and loss of energy.

Therefore, in this article I will not dwell on the causes of depression or on what possible ways can and should be cured of it.

I propose to talk about very simple things.

To look for solutions to the most common everyday problems, which for a person experiencing depression, apathy, loss of strength become an almost impossible task.

Depression must be treated. But we must understand that both drugs and psychotherapy will not work immediately. Therefore, these recommendations are given by me here not as an alternative to psychotherapeutic and drug treatment. They are simply offered as ways of solving the problems of everyday life and maintaining oneself during this period.

Who has not experienced an almost total lack of strength - does not understand what the actual problem is?

Those who have experienced or are experiencing at the present moment of their life experience very difficult feelings about their difficulties.

And the simpler the action, which there is no strength to do, the harder the shame, guilt and self-accusation.

Therefore, before listing how to do the elementary things without dying of powerlessness and despair over our own weakness, I would like to note a very important point. Which you need to be very clear about yourself and your depression.

Depression always strives to support itself.

Therefore, the way to see the goal and the way to achieve this goal - in depression is distorted in such a way that the whole focus is shifted to how difficult and difficult the process of achieving the goal.

And the goal itself fades and becomes almost completely insignificant.

A simple example. Take a shower, brush your teeth.

In a normal state. Purpose: to enjoy the water, from the feeling of cleanliness and freshness. This goal is dominant; the desire to achieve a feeling of cleanliness and freshness is the most important thing. Therefore, the elementary steps: undress, take clean clothes, walk to the bathroom, take a shower and lather - do not feel like efforts at all.

We go to the shower, everything is fine.

In a state of depression. The same thing turns into a completely different goal. Goal: just somehow force yourself to get to the bathroom. The feeling of cleanliness and freshness is completely forgotten, because the concentration of all thoughts and efforts is only on the process, and on how difficult it is, and how there is no strength and desire, but it is necessary.

So, the lack of strength for the most basic things in depression is an absolutely normal thing.

This is a symptom. Just a symptom. Which has to do with you and your personality, and the values of your personality - exactly the same as a runny nose with the flu. That is - this powerlessness and apathy have nothing to do with your personal qualities.

Learn to be minimalist - learn to get by with few actions and simple results.

Don't fit yourself into the "who I should be" picture. Learn to tell yourself, "This is enough."

It is enough to wash, but not to put on makeup. It is enough to eat a banana and give your child cookies with milk, but not to cook the soup. Etc.

In order to stay afloat in society, you only need 3 very simple things from you:

1. Smell normal. All you need to do is clean linen, deodorant, brushed teeth, and a simple five-minute rinse of strategic body parts.

2. Look normal. For this it is enough: clean hair, not wrinkled or dirty clothes.

3. Communicate normally. As a rule, there is no emotional strength for this. Therefore, it is quite enough: to show minimal formal politeness. And that's all.

Now let's see what methods can be used to solve elementary problems if there is very little or no strength at all.

Personal hygiene.

You need to: wash, brush your teeth, wash your hair and style your hair. An elementary minimum.

And some of this has to be done in the morning, when it's really hard.

1. We leave the shower for the evening.

In the morning, we calmly manage with wet wipes. Buy a large box of baby wipes. In the morning, it is enough to refresh only some parts of the body.

If in the evening there is no strength in the same way, then we use the same method in the evening. Exactly the same.

It is enough to wipe the armpits and intimate parts of the body with a damp towel or wet wipes.

2. Brush your teeth.

We are still going to brush our teeth. We make a ritual out of this & a little gymnastics.

We go to the bathroom very slowly. We take very short steps, while walking we breathe deeply. We only watch the legs - so that they walk slowly, and the breathing - so that it is deep. We only focus on our steps and breathing. This little exercise will help you relax.

If that’s too hard to do, use chewing gum, a mouth freshener, and chew on an apple.

3. Wash your hair, keep your hair in order.

Give yourself over to specially trained people for this. There are economy hairdressing salons near almost any home. They all have a service - shampooing and drying with a hairdryer. It costs about 100-150 rubles in cheap hairdressing salons. To look good, two or three visits a week will be enough. You'll get:

firstly, an additional incentive to leave the house and take a short walk;

secondly, a head massage and 10-15 minutes of pleasant tactile sensations that are vital for you.

Well, and a bonus - a good appearance.

If you're worried about what the hairdresser will think of you, try focusing on one simple thought. How can you explain such your visit by the fact that you have problems - this is the last thing that comes to the mind of those around you.

Rather, you will arouse respect, and perhaps envy, giving the impression of a person who does not skimp on taking care of himself, even in trifles.

Well, a professional shampoo is essentially a hair strengthening procedure, because it is accompanied by a scalp massage. Focus specifically on these explanations for your visit.

Next, we need clean clothes.

Buy 10-15 pairs of the cheapest panties, socks, and 5-7 pieces of solid color T-shirts.

If the financial situation allows - throw away socks and underpants after use.

You just have to throw in T-shirts once a week.

If you don’t throw away your socks and panties, this amount will also be enough to put on fresh underwear every day and wash it only once a week.

Ventilate the rest of your clothes on the balcony.

It should be borne in mind that severe states of powerlessness are still temporary, so temporarily focus only on the elementary: fresh linen.

Come to your senses - return to the usual mode of wearing clothes.

Food.

You need to eat. And you need to eat often.

Firstly: food is pleasure, and secondly: you need energy vital.

What can help here?

All food that doesn't need to be cooked. Dried fruits; nuts; sliced cheese and sausage; cottage cheese; yoghurts; vegetables that can be eaten raw; fruits, especially bananas; canned fish; canned vegetables: peas, corn, beans; bitter chocolate; seeds, sliced bread; biscuit; milk; kefir; fermented baked milk.

If you need to feed more family members, add semi-finished products to the above. Sausages, dumplings, all kinds of frost, pasta, rice and buckwheat in bags. Let them cook it for themselves.

Honestly, no one has ever died from such nutrition, and it is also difficult to directly harm health with such nutrition. It's not about eating like that for years. We're just temporarily saving effort and energy.

A couple of sandwiches with cheese, a banana and a glass of fermented baked milk are quite a full-fledged snack. Even for a child.

Rest

In order to be able to relax a little - do one very simple thing.

In a diary or just on a piece of paper, write down the time intervals that you give yourself to be in a state of doing nothing, idleness.

Just so literally and write:

19-21 hours: “I have a rest as I want. I want - I am dumb on the Internet, I want - I look out the window"

You don't need to write anything else. The more of these intervals you write down for yourself for the whole day, the better. Let it be even 15 minutes. Check this record throughout the day, and follow through on it. Make yourself such a daily routine for the week, put all the other necessary things and plans into your mobile phone, or into another list.

In order not to stray from the course of simplifying life for this period - according to the points that you will take from this list: find pictures on the Internet that are in tune with you: with the feeling after a shower, clean hair, beautiful snacks with sandwiches, relaxed felting just like that.

Or, by analogy, according to its list of areas - which need to be simplified.

Look at the picture about the final goal, even if this goal is elementary. This will make it easier to remember, to focus on why you are going to the shower, what you can wear, and what to eat.

Remember, huh? At the beginning I wrote that depression often prevents this ultimate goal from being realized. Therefore, in order to get around this moment, you just need to look at how the result of your simplified actions should look like.

You may rightly ask, but how to buy panties, bananas and cottage cheese - if you don't have the strength?

Usually, there are light gaps in depression. Either in the evening, or for one day a week. Even if this light interval is 20 minutes once a week, try to use it on your own straw bedding.
