A stronger emotion is the desire to avoid pain. If we put the acquisition of benefits and the avoidance of the pain that a person is currently experiencing on an equal footing, he will choose to get rid of the pain first, and then think about acquiring something good. How correct is this approach?
It is instinctive, since a person first cares about maintaining his health and psychological balance, and then about the benefits that can complement happiness.
Avoiding pain makes it impossible to find something good, where it is possible that this pain will be healed. If you heal the pain, then you are only concerned with the treatment. But if you direct your gaze to the acquisition of something good, then, perhaps, "you kill two birds with one stone": you heal pain and gain good.
Avoiding pain and then gaining benefits for yourself is an instinctive approach to life. It is in human nature to preserve one's health first, and then think about worldly things. Accordingly, the most powerful emotion is avoiding pain, rather than acquiring something good and valuable for oneself.
But if a person feels his instinctive impulses and at the same time turns on thinking, then he begins to count: if he gains something good for himself, then, perhaps, he will lose pain. Undoubtedly, a person can make a mistake: having acquired something good, the pain will not leave him. But people become successful because they know their instinctive reactions, but they obey common sense.
Successful people overcome their instinctual nature by doing things they choose to do at the level of the mind, not at the level of instincts. They don't give up on their natural impulses. But nevertheless, they first calculate in which case they will receive more, and then they act. If a person sees that by acquiring something good, he will get rid of pain, then he will work to obtain benefits.
In human nature, everything is arranged incrementally - first, a person gets rid of interfering factors, and then he thinks about good things. It's like in an illness: first you think about how to get well, and then you do hair styling, make-up, selection of beautiful clothes, etc. It is important for you first to get rid of the pain, and then to get something good.
This is why many manipulators use this mechanism. Knowing that people act on the level of instinct, they hurt them in order to push them to take those actions that benefit them. Only the person who not only feels his instinctive impulses, but also uses thinking, becomes immune to manipulators. He becomes successful compared to those who act on the instinctual level.

WHY IN FAMILIES WHERE EVERYTHING IS GOOD, SOMETHING IS NOT GOOD WITH CHILDREN
A small note on this topic, since recently families that are friendly and happy have often begun to contact, and of course, on the one hand, it is joyful that there are such families, but for some reason something is happening with the children in these families, but not that, for example, children violently fight among themselves, or children have not typical long-term acquired symptoms - stuttering, enuresis, tantrums, heavy weight, etc.

EMOTION SUPPRESSION - GOOD OR BAD
I was very emotional and hot-tempered as a child. My reaction to something went off scale and I was carried without any brakes. Of course, after the release of negative emotions, relief came, which is comparable to a balloon that was pumped and it burst.
