No matter how much his opponents scolded or admired Sigmund Freud, I am convinced over and over again that the grandfather of psychoanalysis saw and knew a lot. His theories have a place to be. His theory of slips of the tongue has attracted considerable interest for many decades. After all, what is a Freudian slip of the tongue?

Freudian slip nothing more than "speaking out loud" of our unconscious. Freud believed that various unconscious desires often cause mental problems that a person is not able to talk about in any way, sometimes these problems are not even realized by a person on a conscious level.

So the term "Freudian slip" is nothing more than: it is the release of a hidden desire outward. A person does not always realize that he wants something, and the subconscious, as the true guardian of a person's mental health, brings hidden thoughts out through random reservations or slip-ups. The Freudian slip of the tongue is not just a trivial meaningless mistake, it is an outlet for hidden desires, and sometimes a request for help from an unconscious person.

The trouble is that sometimes it is difficult to understand the nature of their appearance. Nevertheless: nothing is impossible. If you wish, you can try to figure it out.

Sigmund Freud created the theory of reservations

According to this theory, all errors in human speech can be roughly divided into:

1 - all reservations, stonecrops, mishearing and misprints;

2 - all memory problems: forgetting names, plans, impressions, words, hiding things and other erroneous actions;

3 - gestures and facial expressions that do not correspond to the purpose.

If these problems take place, then they must have a reason. Accidents do not exist in the world, there are only regularities. Another thing is that not all of them are subject to understanding. The further a person tries to push back his desires and needs, the more clearly they appear outward, expressed in words, actions, deeds.

It often seems to us that they can occur during periods of fatigue, depression or, on the contrary, mental overexcitation, that they mean absolutely nothing. However: "Accidents are not accidental" - the Chinese sages echo to Sigmund Freud.

If you look at the question of why a person made just such a mistake, you will notice that it did not happen by chance, and each action has a certain hidden meaning.

To understand the full meaning of Freudian reservations, try to listen carefully and most importantly watch the speeches of politicians of any rank. You will be surprised to notice that words, gestures and how phrases are constructed often do not match at all. Of course, many of the politicians are aware of this and control themselves, but not everything can be controlled.

During the televised address, Senator Ted Kennedy wanted to say that "The national interest should be to reward the best and brightest." Instead, Kennedy blurted out "breast", even cupping his palm. He also quickly recovered and continued his speech, but this incident took its toll on his reputation.

Observations of ordinary people provide further confirmation of Freud's theory. For example, if you tell guests who you didn’t really want to see on your doorstep that you are “not happy with their visit” instead of “we are glad for your visit,” then you should not be surprised at their fleeting stay in your house.

Forgetting names is another popular mistake. We often forget the names of those we are not interested in. We forget and cannot remember in any way the words that our unconscious would not want to repeat. Then why, then the plot of the film "We met with you somewhere" comes to mind, where the hero of Vasily Merkuryev, the director of the theater, forgot the word in "s" - conscience.

Grandfather Freud believed that all these "accidents" arose in human society precisely because of its development. Civilization was built in such a way that all natural, read animals, impulses had to be suppressed. Suppressed, they hid deep in the subconscious and periodically begin to "riot", breaking out.

And if your subconscious mind began to “express itself” unflatteringly on this or that occasion. Your inner censor has released your long-hidden desires to the surface.
