Hot September. Surprisingly, the poplars are still green. Walking through the city streets. I peer into the faces of the people I meet. The feeling that I already know all of them, that once, with almost everyone, we have already met. And yet, each person is a mystery, a riddle, a hidden, invisible story. How interesting and exciting it is to talk to people.
"You can't always be a hero, but you can always remain human." Johann Wolfgang Goethe
The fact that we all rushed to "grow personally" is probably not a fashion, or not just a fashion, but also a natural stage in the development of mankind. When the issues of housing and food are more or less resolved (not everywhere, but …), then the next stage (as Abraham Maslow said) is to think not about daily bread, but about highly spiritual. True, a modern person often comes to personal growth through, again, the desire for "daily bread", that is, through the desire to achieve material success, become rich, drive an expensive car, live in an expensive house …
"There are people who look like zeros: they always need to have numbers in front of them." O. Balzac
Having come to the need to grow personally, a person brings material habits with him into the spiritual world.
“The problem is that the ego is capable of turning anything to its advantage, even spirituality. The ego is constantly trying to accumulate and use the knowledge of spiritual teachings for its own purposes. Trungpa Chogyam Rinpoche
This game of "personal development" comes with several common mistakes.
1. You're in a hurry. Personal growth, in your perception, is a semblance of a certain construction object: brickwork or a wall made of timber - if you hurry and put more effort, you can overtake everyone and grow personally in a minimum period of time. However, personal growth, in its mechanics, resembles the growth of a plant, tree, fruit, vegetable. As we will not rush a woman, and the child in her will grow for 9 months. A different alignment leads either to a miscarriage or to pathology. There is a little good news: Your personal growth is already in You. In fact, You do not grow, but only cognize and reveal the PERFECTION already present in You.
"The circus elephant does not run away, because all his life he was tied to a peg" Jorge Bucay
Here we are looking for the peg with which we are tied. This is the essence of personal growth.
2. You want the practitioners to act here and now. If the proposed exercise does not immediately give you an effect, you throw it into the closet and rush in search of a new one. The movement in search of "magic" gymnastics goes in a circle, always has gracious teachers who are ready to create a whole bunch of new super-mega-methods for you. Stop. Personal growth is not a disease and does not require a super drug. If growth is first of all the knowledge of one's own perfection, then the simplest practice will be observation meditation. Just watch. Just breath. Just look. Just listen.
"The most important thing in meditation is that you get closer to your true essence." David Lynch
3. You live past experiences and miss the present. Imagine for a second that you live in a world where nothing repeats itself. To understand what I mean, watch the film "Life in a Day" directed by Mark De Chloe (Netherlands). Just think, in Your day NOTHING IS REPEATED and with every event, situation, sensation You meet ONLY ONCE. Your experience of many years of life suggests now that I am wrong. You are used to the fact that everything repeats itself. That's just, that AMAZING FEELING after spiritual practice has gone somewhere and does not want to repeat itself any more. Why? Because there is no repetition in the life of Your soul. Repetition is for the mind only. If you want to feel the energy of Chi or feel the RHYTHM of the UNIVERSE, as well as any other spiritual experience - do not remember. Instead, carefully feel the here and now. Feel what has come and is created right now. This flower blooms and opens its petals only in the present moment, which will never happen again.
“With awareness comes choice. You can say, "I allow this moment to be what it is." And then suddenly, where there used to be dissatisfaction, now there is a feeling of liveliness and peace. And that's where the right action comes from. " Eckhart Tolle
