Pregnancy is a special state of a woman, which is perceived by others as magical, tender, especially if the child is desired.

But, this does not always happen, very often, the expectant mother has tension, sudden changes in mood, crying, and much more. Today we will try to figure out what contributes to the emergence of fears and anxiety in pregnant women, and what the problem is.

Why does fear arise during pregnancy?

As a rule, fears in a pregnant woman arise from the unknown. This is a new experience for the expectant mother, which not only brings new changes, but also completely changes the life of the family.

In women who give birth for the first time, fears can be very strong, sometimes reaching a pathological state. Not every mother is ready to realize that this is fear, therefore, they sleep poorly, are irritable, and face private drowsiness, weakness and health problems.

What kind of fears can a pregnant woman have?

And so, these can be fears of the following direction:

- fear of change;

- fear of losing a relationship with her husband;

- fear of losing oneself;

- loss of independence and freedom;

- fear of losing beauty and attractiveness;

- job loss career;

- fear of a new life and much more.

A woman does not know what will happen next in her future, how the childbirth will go, whether the baby will be healthy, what changes will be with her body, whether she will be a good mother. All mothers perceive fears as fully justified, and it is sometimes very difficult to work through them.

How do fears affect a pregnant woman?

Very often, an unresolved problem can cause a decrease in interest in life, affect the work of female organs (for example, the tone of the uterus increases during pregnancy), postpartum depression, problems with contact with a child, poor health, emotional instability of the mother, etc.

How can a psychologist help a pregnant mother?

First, in order for a woman to get rid of her fear, she must become aware of it. As the saying goes, "you need to know the enemy by sight." Therefore, it is very important to understand what exactly is scary! It would be nice to write fears on a sheet and cry them out!

And so, the first method of working with fears: describing them on paper and experiencing them at a psychologist's session. The larger the list, the better. The client can name each fear differently, but it is very important that it be spoken out.

Once the list is ready, there is still a lot of work to do with it. You need to read it, trace how each item feels. If a client wants to cry, in no case should she be prohibited from doing it, her initiative should be fully supported. This is very important, because unlived emotions will shackle the body.

The next step in dealing with fears on the list is to select those items that scare you the most. There may be several of them and each needs to be given a lot of attention! For myself, I use metaphorical cards and thanks to them I have the opportunity to understand why the problem has arisen, what is behind it, whether there is a secondary benefit from such emotions.

The next stage of working with fear is very painful, since you need to imagine together that the most expressive fear has already occurred. That is, the client needs to visit no. So a pregnant woman will be able to realize and experience it, and as a result, get rid of it. But, a psychologist should be ready at any time to help his client, because even strong clients can regress to the stage of a powerless child.

Hope my technicians help you to help your clients! While I use them to work with pregnant moms, they work with other clients as well.
